A month ,at least, or so ago when doing a bit of weekly maintenance on two tanks, a fair few Java Fern plantlets were put in a jar ,while l decided what to do with these surplus plants.
Yesterday doing a weekly water change l found the jar on bedroom window cill, assuming everything would have rotted suffered. to my surprise very healthy and growth put on

So I left java fern plantlets, java moss, and marimo moss balls in a lidded plastic container for almost two years and opened it recently. The java fern looked pretty good considering! The moss that had grown above the water was alive and I'm not sure about the moss balls - they were dark, but weren't falling apart or anything. I saved the java fern and finally threw everything else out. It's amazing what some plants can deal with.
