Another aquarists dream location. This time were on the west coast of New Zealand 20 minutes drive North of Haast and our destination is the Dept of Conservation area called Ships Creek. Most of the West Coast of NZ is covered in podocarp forests mostly with an amazing tree call the Kahikatea.

Theres 2 reasons this is a great place to visit. 1st is the drift wood, granted some of it a bit large for my 90cm tank. The west coast is covered in driftwood - the 1st image below is further up the coast, the rest are all at Ship Creek.

2nd is the swamp forest walk. It's 20 minutes and starts along the Ship Creek who's waters are stained dark brown by organic material and then heads into the forest on a wooden walk way just above the swamp surface. Amazing place and once again I was more interested in the tress than looking at what the plants were in the water. I'll have to go back some day.
