(Apologies for a spate of related questions but my current fish problems are raising different issues which I think merit separate posts.)
I've lost 4 fish over 3 nights. dw1305 suggested the nocturnal aspect suggests oxygen problems.
I've added an air stone but one fish died after that.
On the basis that oxygen is a bi-product of photosynthesis, which stops when the lights go off, last night I left the lights on. The two fish I was most concerned about (which were, and still are breathing quicker than usual) survived the night.
I am slightly concerned that with the lights on, the water might be more oxygenated, but the fish won't get a rest, and that this may be stressful for sick fish.
Any thoughts on the trade off?
