Hello, im new to planted tanks and recently set up a 0.75G for 6 baby guppies until they get bigger there are a few plants in there [trimmed from my 65G] the Cabomba Caroliniana trimming is giving off little bubbles, is that o2 diffusing into the water, or is something up. There is a line of 0.5mm bubbles from the top of the plant to the surface of the water [ about 5 inches]

That doesn't sound like perling. is it just one line of bubbles, and not bubbles all over the tank if so its a small amount of damage to the plant still nothing to worry about though.

Hi all,
Cabomba does pearl really well. We've use for this experiment <http://www.saps.org.uk/secondary/te...n-evolution-in-the-process-of-photosynthesis->, but I think Danmil3s is right and the line of bubbles maybe coming from the cut stem, or damage to the plant.

If you want to check whether it is pearling, if you turn the filter off while the light is on, you will see bubbles slowly appear and be trapped between the leaves. You only need to do turn the filter off for about 20 minutes, if the plant isn't "silvery" by then it isn't pearling.

cheers Darrel
