Marc's Discus/Shallow/Guppy Tanks

Hi guys. New member. Want a place to keep a log of my tanks.

So here they are.

200l. Discus Tank
Equipment: 20watt led floodlight. 2x t8's. diy co2. Internal 1800litre per hour filter. External 1000litre per hour canister.
Fish: 6 Juvanile discus. 30 cardinals. 6 cory. 4 oto. 1 bristle plec. 1 electric blue ram. 1 SAE. 2 rummy nose.


30l. Shallow Tank.
Equipment: diy oak light unit with 10watt led floodlight. 450litre per hour internal canister.....That's it lol
Fish: 5x gold white cloud mountain minnows.
Nice and simple on this one. Just want it to fill right out. Will be adding moss and monte carlo when it arrives in the post.


30l Nano Cube.
Equipment: nano heater. Internal 150 litre per hour filter. 10watt ebay special led.
Fish: 3 adult guppy (2 female, 1 male) and 2x 6 day old fry.


So that's all of them. Just a case of keeping up on water quality and maintenance now and see them fill in.

Maintenance on the shallow tank done. 60% water change. Will do that every day this week as it's a new set up.

Love them. How anyone thinks discus are boring is beyond me. Yes, they look boring in a tiny tank in a shop, scared of the kids banging the tank. Get them home, feed them up and they all have their own personalities.

Thanks. The whole setup cost me £60. The wife went mad (another tank???) until I explained that I used to spend that on a night out every weekend and this gives me months of enjoyment.

200L Discus Community
More plants added to give a dense look and a touch of red by the rocks. Also added Helanthium tenellum broad leaf in the foreground to fill out the sand area.

Shallow White Cloud Tank
Filled in the middle section with some riccia and java moss. Also added some more big round swords to the back.

The Guppy Nano.

Again added a few more plants. Basically the smallest stems/trimmings of all the new plants. The two fry have grown loads over the last week. They are now swimming around in the open. Impossible to get a shot of the adult guppies still!

And 10 points for anyone who can spot the Guppy fry in this picture :

Tank update.

200l Discus.
Added monte carlo to the foreground. Thinned out some plants big 50% water change. Here is the view from my sofa.

Also installed the tropica co2 system. (Can and in tank reservoir). Really discreet. Next to the filter inlet.

Once the can has run out, all connect a diy yeast system to the reservoir. Will probably get one for the left hand side as well because the current bottle is a bit of an eye sore.

Shallow Gold White Cloud Tank.

Added two more gold white clouds, few bits of the monte carlo and a bronze cory. 60% water change. And I found a decent size Ramshorn snail. No ideal where it cam from but I love them so all good. Really enjoying this tank as it's coming to life:

Guppy Tank
Added two male endlers. My two new daughters (the fry) are doing well and growing fast. Another fun tank this.

Also added monte carlo to the front of this one as well. Just a touch of the smaller tufts.

Guppy Nano

Rescaped the tank. Grouped the plants more and put a nice sand area at the front. Think it looks much better.

Shallow Gold White Cloud Tank

Found a nice Ramshorn so thought I would take a shot. The white clouds are breeding as well. I've seen a couple of teeny tiny fry. Only once so might have been eaten but could just be hiding.

Added about 30 red cherries to the shallow tank. Adults, shrimplets, male, female and berried. Should have a large colony in no time.

Growth on the discus tank has just exploded in the last few days. Probably because I've added an extra in tank reactor for co2.
