Marc's Discus/Shallow/Guppy Tanks

I like all three of them. Do you have diy co2 on the other two tanks? You have the same substrate in all 3 tanks that look like inert silicate sand, right? What are the water parameters in your discus tank?

No idea of any water parameters in any tank to be honest. I might get slated on here for this but I just feel that if you keep up on water changes, over filtration and high flow, the fish are healthy and active, what's the need to monitor the water? I have a kit here to take readings if I see any problems mind you. Never had to use it though. I have co2 in the shallow tank which I will be re doing later on as I'm not happy with it. Too many organics leaching into the water as the soil cap was not thick enough. Photos coming of new scape soon.

The sand is from my old job. It's kiln dried sand. It's used for checking the volume of a hole in soil to measure the density. Uniform grain.

Rescaped the shallow tank. Went for something very simple. Looking to get some tint into the water and lots of moss as I go along.

Morning has broooooookken!! Dust has settled. Added catappa leaves and the tint has started. Here is how the Blackwater Shallow is sitting:

I really like it. Very hard to keep it simple and not add more. This will be ideal to build up a big shrimp colony. The golden white clouds dont touch the shrimp. Not even the shimplets that are in there.

Sorry for the continual posts lol. But then, it is international tank maintenance day isn't it!

Here is the Guppy Nano. Trimmed with trimmings re planted. Decorative sand at the front vacuumed. And I've now added diy yeast co2 to this tank (1bps).

Here is how the tank has evolved from the start too now.
Before and after:

Few things have changed. I built a stand for the nano tanks.

And the how to video:

The Guppy tank has got more fry in it as well. Only spotted the one at the moment:

And Blackwater Shallow is going very well. Lots of tannins being leached and everything is happy:

Looking great :)
May I ask what sand you are using in the Discus tank?

Progress pic from after last maintenance. 8 weeks between now and the start:
