Hey guys, I moved into the downstairs bedroom and am bringing my two tanks with me, but I don't really know the best way to go about this. I was thinking: Bag up fish, Drain water, Move tank downstairs, refill with 1/2 same water and then top up, add fish?

Try to conserve at least 50% water from tanks.. I do not know you can use Bath Tube for that maybe? So yes your approach sounds good. I plant to buy fermenting bins (20-30L) for DIY Beer in case I will move aquarium from flat to flat. You can close them up with lid.
I have a few buckets that I'll use and also a sealable container - about 3 gallons.
