Off the shelf ferts!

I was just wondering how many of you folk actually use ready mixed fertilizer?
And if so, what do you use & how much does it cost?

Hi FoxFish

Little tank off the shelf fertz - Profito, Nitro and Easycarbo - these can be purchased from either Aqua Essential or The Green Machine - links attached:

As for my main tank - Estimated Index and Easycarbo - links attached

http://www.ukaps.org/EI.htm

The latter (E.I) is considerably cheaper option.

Paul.

Thanks for your detailed reply - i have been using dry fert mixes for a few years now, before that (for about 25 years) I was using various methods but, i was just wondering about other folk who might prefer to use pre mix?
Do you get good results?

Out of interest, why the different regimes? Comparing the two, running down the 'wet' ferts, something else? Apologies if I've missed a magnum opus thread somwhere.

I use Tropica Plant Nutrition+ almost exclusively in all my planted tanks. If I were on a tight budget then I'd mix my own using JamesC's recipe.

Dosing ranges from 1 to 5ml TPN+ per 50 litres per day depending on set-up (plant biomass, CO2 and lighting levels). Water change 50% per week.

If money is not an issue, Tropica ferts are the best I came accross, I have not used ADA stuff yet, but Tropica for ease of dosing, quality and packaging are just perfect.

I also have Ferro, EasyCarbo and Fosfo, but dose tend to last a long time, as I dose EI (James Recipe) on the main tank.
