Polystyrene alternatives?

I'm sure I've seen folks mention other types of material to go under their tanks other than Polystyrene but I can't seem to find it now so anyone got any suggestions/links please. I'm planning on an under tank heating mat so that will have a bearing on what I can use I guess! Thanks in advance.

Hi mate, on eBay google closed cell foam and you can buy it by the role. I've purchased some for mine

Thanks Alastair, what did we do before eBay huh! What thickness did you get?

Ha ha. I got 6 mm but would recommend 4mm if its a smaller tank. There's a particular seller I got mine from who does set measurements but does say message them and they'll do your specific size. How much are you after??

Strategically placed self-adhesive draft insulation strips work well also, with the added advantage that once compressed they are practically invisible, but still effective enough to take up any unevenness that would otherwise stress a glass tank to breaking point.

Not decided for sure what size tank I'm getting yet Alastair :? but actually I think I've got a kip mat somewhere that may do the trick ...
