Ram Male or Female

Hello,
Is this a male a female Ram ?

Do you have an idea of how old the Ram is? i.e. is it a juvenile?

These suckers are tricky to sex!

needs a bit more time to settle in, but initial thoughts are Female looking at the dorsal and anal fins

Likely to be a female because the black spot isnt solid. Also look out for some light red colouring on the belly area over time.

Where did you get it. Most for sale in high street pet stores seem to be male. Females seem to be scarce. Not entirely sure why. But could be they’re held back for breeding, have been selectively bred to look more like males. Or perhaps because of gender manipulation with a bias toward the more colourful and commercially profitable male.

I know nothing about rams, however it’s possible to manipulate the m/f ratio by control of ph, or temp in some species
