tetratec ex90 cannister problem

I recentely dusted off an old ex90 which was just sitting there in the cupboard for nearly 2 yrs. I gave it a good hose down. Dried the media and cannister compartments under the sun for about 2 hrs but I kept the motor head inside the house away from any direct sunlight.

When i tried to fix it back all in,...the motor head just doesn't fit in. It's sort of getting stuck at the borders of cannister. Did i do something wrong? Should i lubricate the rubber like borders of the motorhead prior to pushing it in to lock & if so with what?

Usually you should wet the silicone seal around the head before putting the head back on. This should help. Also check the baskets are all seated correctly. If they aren't then they could be sitting too high and stopping the head sitting correctly.
