Hello to all,
I am going to set up a sub tropical tank for white cloud mountain minnows and Asian banjo catfish.
This will be the first time I have used sand instead of gravel,
My question is, as the sand is 2 inch's deep would it be better to leave my plants Cryptocoryne willisii and vallisneria spiralis in pots sunk in the sand or should I plant them out in the sand minus the pots?.
Your thoughts would be most helpful.
Cheers French 47

I'd stick them in the sand, as long as you are doing water column dosing and maybe a root tab or two they should grow fine. I've noticed I get much more rot growth in my sand tanks than with aquasoil/mud, presumably as nutrients are lower.
