what's the right way to prune vallis?

Following a conversation today, I just wanted to know any bodys experience with pruning vallis. In the past I''ve pruned the leaves all the way back to the bulb and also pruned them to the length required. But I've never had success in creating a wall of vallis along the back of the tank much like george farmers harlequin haven.

So any help would be appreciated, thanks

hi,
i always just chopped the tops off if they got too long, and if they became too thick, simply split portions from the runners. Its pretty much the only plant i could grow once upon a time, and i always succeded with this method.
