Which is completely wrong. Algae do not care about phosphate or nitrate, but plants do. The OP is encouraged to purchase the product listed in either in post #5, or shown on the page APF Plant Nutrition in Bottles (dry) - APF Complete - Fertilisers which is by far the best value. The specialist has phosphate and nitrate I think so has to be used in a pretty heavily planted tank so that you don't get any algae issues

It really doesn't matter whether they do this or not. Blooms occur due to the activation of the spores. So you have to stop the spores from blooming. You'll never stop the adult algae from feeding anyway, and besides, that isn't the fundamental issue.Well, partly true. Algea spores doesn't care about P or N, as they live off ammonia, but the algae (adult state) does feed on nitrate and phosphate.
