White fuzzy stuff growing on suction cups?

Seems like quite a few people on the net have had this, but nobody seems to know what it is - it looks like the stuff in the link below that someone posted on another forum.

This is in my new Fluval Ebi setup, with new pump etc. Interestingly, I've put an old heater in there, and the suction cups on the heater don't have any growth, perhaps implying it's something to do with new rubber?

I used to get it on any new rubber suction cups I put in my tank, I just rinsed under hot water and it never came back.

It's could be some left over silicon/lubrication from the manufacture process?

I had this appear on my heater suction cups too. Oddly enough my Pleco enjoyed getting rid of it (he's still bright and healthy btw haha)
