    Another Newbie to planted tanks...

The ADA SOLAR Mini M is 37cm long, and that includes the support, so the actual light housing is even smaller, so it's too small really. You can get many alternatives that aren't so expensive, and then use the money that you saved to buy a bigger tank.

Those look like they might be suitable. Though they're 5mm rather than 6mm acrylic so it might bend quite a lot. My school's got a laser cutter that I could use to cut a top ring which could then be stuck on to give added strength like TGM style of tanks if bowing was a big problem. Posted...

    LED Schematics

This article makes interesting reading. It's pretty recent so mentions many of the LEDs that have been discussed in this thread (such as the XP-G, which TMC are apparently using in the new AquaBeam 1500XG so they should be suitable). It suggests that 12W of LED can replace at least 100W of MH...

I'm not sure what size tank you're going to be using these one, so can't suggest any numbers! However as the LEDs are over twice as bright compared to the ones he was...

    LED Schematics

When I was looking into the LEDs I found this company, who sell the R5s for a slightly cheaper price than the R4s (not sure what the difference is really, the technical specs seem to be fairly similar, though there are a few differences such as the k temperature). I've not used LED Rise yet, as...

    Andyh's 190l Lounge tank (update 20-09-11)

Re: Andyh's New 190l Lounge tank. It's Begun! I'd probably try it without, it kind of disrupts the flow of the wood. Without it your eyes will be drawn towards the main hardscape, rather than being distracted by the rock on the right. :)
