ther There's a couple of other points though... What of asthetics? Crystal clear water in a display tank is attractive - larger / more filters aide in this. Also, taking more particulate matter out of suspension surely helps light penetration in the tank, too.

does it HAVE to be sintered glass? I've always used alfagrog.... can get a sackful for a pond filter for peanuts... it's porous and ceramic... and it does the job!

Why can;t you just buy an eheim external pump off ebay? That will connect to the filter and some nice glassware!

between my eheim 2028 and 2012 i think it'll be OK.... the 3,5 times was my estimate of the 2028 after pipe work and media.

Are these generally well-regarded? Would the '200' model be enough for a 24olitre tank, given that the tank is being passed through it about 3.5 times per hour? Also... do both models use 12mm hose?

Just ordered a 2012 with an extra module. QUESTION: if you use different media in each basket, won't the water just use the path of least resistance?
