    Day Gecko Pics...

I keep them, and they breed themselves  I don't claim to do anything special to get them to breed, just keep them in pairs and away they go. I used to incubate the eggs until a few months ago but now i leave them where they're laid

    Day Gecko Pics...

Cheers Garuf, they're easy to be honest. Like anything, get the setup right and they look after themselves. Spotlight for basking, UV tube, vivarium with plenty of hiding places, feed them fruit baby food and crickets a few times a week, spray the enclosure every to every other day to increase...

    picture backgrounds

On GIMP select the Image tab at the top, then canvas size, and alter it there. You will need to select the 'Centre' option before leaving that menu. Then select the Image tab again and click 'Flatten Image'. The background will then be filled in your selected colour. You can fill it using the...

    Photography challenge

I've signed up. I could do with some inspiration of topics to shoot - my subjects at the moment are reptiles, fish and plants

    some more pearling pics

I appreciate that, I was asking if Mark does any processing to the background as in a few of his pics he has a 'streaky', paint brushed look to the backgrounds which I like

    some more pearling pics

Surely it's the lack of depth of field in this case?

    some more pearling pics

Gotta admit the first one does nothing for me, but the second and third are great. Do you put a blur on the background in PS?

Great shots, love the composition of the first one.

    Shrimp scenes

I seriously cannot get my head around how good those vids look Mark! Amazing detail, it's frightening really  Andy, yours looks awesome too, it's great to see how the tank 'runs'. I can see this way of presenting and displaying ones tank becoming VERY popular

Out walking yesterday (with camera of course)

I'd say so, i'll bet the cover cost more than your 'typical' lens

Out walking yesterday (with camera of course)

The 100-400 looks like a telescope compared to my measly Canon EFS 55-250mm IS lense  Only wish I could justify the money for an upgrade, but I don't get out and about enough to warrent the prices of the L series lenses

Out walking yesterday (with camera of course)

Nice snaps, John, what kit do you use yourself? Your mate's lense is pure filth!
  21. J

    Camara advice?

If he has no interchangeable lenses then it'll either be a 'Bridge' camera, the stepping stone of the DSLR world. Alternately it's just a DSLR body without a lens and that explains why the pics are so terrible
  22. J

    Camara advice?

Definately worth doing that, to get a 'feel' for the cameras, some people don't like the sizes of certain cameras. I have a 400D and although a mate's 450D is considerably better in performance, I can't keep a happy grip on it due to the smaller body
  23. J

    Camara advice?

I would suggest, if you can get a cheap one, get the Canon 450D, however the 1000D is supposed to be pretty good as well. I would buy the body only and plumb for the upgraded lens Canon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 EF-S IS (unless it already comes with it :? ). I would suggest getting the 50mm 1.8 lens for...

    Canon speedlite flash gun

Depends on what yo want to use it for really, as for the price of the 580, you could get a basic studio lighting package :geek:

    Recomendations for online Camera gear.

I bought my Nifty 50 from him on ebay, was £55 delivered last year! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BRAND-NEW-CANON-5 ... 7C294%3A50 Great lens but feels like a tacky piece of cr*p to be honest

    saintly's real life lighting attempts

Agreed! One thing though, if i'm being REALLY picky, the bubbles at the top are a little distracting  I'm really not looking forward to putting and photos of mine on here, i'll get ripped to shreds  Always easier to critique someone else's work than your own. And if your pics...

    saintly's real life lighting attempts

Then yes... ...the lighting is great. Please don't take my critiques as always negative (which i'm sure they seem), just my opinions on improvement :D

    saintly's real life lighting attempts

The lighting looks great, really like the blue background also but I cant work out what the main subject/focus is. Maybe a greater depth of field would overcome this by allowing you to 'see' more

    Black Phantom tetras

Haha! You can never take too many shots and i'm sure everyone will agree with me saying you do take a lot of great images from those I have seen in my short time here so far.

    Black Phantom tetras

That last picture to me, doesn't look right. It's overexposed and cant decide on the subject, the ones previous were much better

    Black Phantom tetras

The reason i ask is, do you convert them to jpeg to put them online? It pains me to convert my RAW images...

    Black Phantom tetras

I forgot you have the Pencils, wish i'd gone for some in mine, they had some nice ones in Coxwell Aquatics the other week. I went for a huge shoal of Espei instead, not complaining as they're top banana  Do you shoot in RAW? Please excuse my laziness for not checking EXIF myself
  36. J

    Black Phantom tetras

Good and unusual choice Mark, they look great and that shot is a beauty :D I'd only put another 5 in max.

    camera people

What is your budget? Canon 450Dis a great entry DSLR camera, though I'm sure someone will suggest a Nikon  and you could probably get the d60 or a used d200 for the same money
