    Ultra-wide angle (UWA) and aquascaping

On my studies I found these photographers where the beauty of their work lies in the pure 'documentary' perspective and the effort taken to capture the subjects objectively. Bernd and Hilla Becher I believe this lovely 'flat' aesthetic was achieved through their large format camera and careful...

    Anyone into vintage photography?

I occasionally dig out my Fujica STX-1 every now and then, I think its great! I had another one before it and the mirror reflex broke, but the beauty of it was it was only £20 a replacement (plus a couple of lenses!) where no one wants them. My old housemate had a a Pentax that he bizarrely...

    White Balance

Im surprised your having issues as your other shots for your kitchen tank and nano were nice. Then again, I think Tony's got it with the NA Green bulbs throwing the camera which you didn't use in your other tanks. Maybe worth doing an 'experiment' with different tubes like you did for your...

    Winter Flower

Bizarrely my bonsai is still flowering in winter. I think being indoors has very much messed up its seasons . Nice pretty delicate flowers it has though. Just a quick capture with a Canon point-and-shoot Cheers for looking, Neil

    Doorstep Frog

I used the good ol' Wikipedia; simplified and with exceptions frogs have wet, smooth skin and jump, toads have dry skin and normally 'walk'. I agree though he was a chubber

    New Camera

Looks good, nice fish too, depends what you were trying to achieve though with your photo as to feedback. If you were after just a documentary of your fish then the exposure looks alright and its well focussed which is always good. If you were after something more 'arty' then the compositions...

    pearling bubble.

Don't mean to butt in, thought I may add something. Your prints are coming back dark where your originally viewing them on a backlit screen. You can do a few basic things (for free!) which help. Change your colour profile to CMYK (I use US Web coated (SWOP) v2) which is what most printers use...

compact cameras - Panasonic and canon

I was impressed because I havn't bought a camera in years. You have to persevere to get the sharp focus and thats probs as close as you'll get. With any compact you'll never beat having the real deal with expensive quality optics though

compact cameras - Panasonic and canon

I was in the same position as you and fortunately my gf got me the Canon IXUS 100IS for my birthday  Awesome build quality, nice looking camera too, mines in the matt black. Its macro does this; full tank shots come out alright too, although like all cameras its having a play with the...

    CRS shot

Thanks Andy I thought you'd appreciate the CRS  Cheers Saintly, means a lot to hear that from someone who gets shots as great as yours! Its got loads of different settings for white balance for different lighting conditions. The auto is pretty good, but theres also a 'custom' setting...

    CRS shot

Thought I would put this shot up on the proper photography board for your viewing pleasure. I quite liked it. Taken with my point and shoot (its a Canon IXUS 100is)
