cheers and i know thats the general rule but all 4 were bought together and have been together since small i tried adding more to the group and they were just attacked to the point of near death but all 4 are really brightly coloured always out swimming together no fighting and even hand feed...

well my other bag of substrate turned up this morning and my other bulbs so i spent today tearing the tank down again and getting it in its final set-up this is what i ended up with and am now going to let it grow in and see what happens ive got 2 54w t5's running at the minute but am thinking...

glad to be of some help as my tanks in the past have been a flop lol so to speak i agree on the tank size being harder to get to look nice although the tank aint nowere near as good as many on here im really pleased with it :)

another little update decided to remove the in your face grey rocks lol and added some lava rock to try and take the in your face look away also bought some more needle leaf java fern and some riccia :) just done the first water change too as the top of the water was really oily from the peat...

cheers mate :) this is my real first scape as ive never set-up a planted tank before so im pleased with the feedback im getting my other was just java fern with sand lol i agree about the rocks though there too bright i may look for some a little darker so they dont stand out too much :)

cheers well update time again :), my peat turned up this morning so it was all systems go so to speak started by emptying the tank and giving a good clean make sure all sand was out letf the snails in lol then added the osmocote followed by a layer of the sphagnum moss peat the it...

after straying and going for malawi and then an amazon theme tank i couldnt help but look at the planted tanks and havin always wanted a nice set-up decided to have another go but try harder this time. i have spent the last 4 month reading asking and buying lol the tank is my 72"x18"x18" 12mm...

thank you at the minute im not using any co2 lol i was thinking of adding diy until i get together all of the parts for my 7kg pressurised bottle :) the amazon swords are putting out new leaves constantly :) :thumbup:

Well i just wanted to add a little update as ive now removed the 3 platy i used to cycle the tank and i now have only the harlequin and the otto's and shrimp which is all that will be in the tank only greater numbers ive also added a new piece of java fern which i really love :) hair...

Re: my first attempt :) well today i had my water checked and it seems the tank has fully cycled so i added 4 amano shrimp to start clean up and turns out 1 is full of eggs :) i also added my power head and my new glass co2 diffuser and made a little video to share :) enjoy :)
