I'll be honest, i used the Tesco 19p thin bleach with prime for about 6 years on my marine tank and it would always go back to white after 12/24 hours.
I'd just rinse and soak in a strong prime solution after then back in the sump.
I'm running 2x2800 koralias, a 1200 canister and a 600 canister.
I don't think its too much at all. I was a little concerned it would be but its fine :)
I'm running a Aqua one 1200 and an ehiem ecco 600lt.
In the 1200 I've got a handfull of ceramic balls and a course sponge. My top tray is completely empty at the moment however I do fill it with floss for a few days if I've done a big plant/substrate move as using soil makes a mess lol
In the...
I'd say you have more than enough filtration if you are meaning the mechanical and bio filtration.
I used only an Ehiem ecco pro 130 (I assume the same as yours) on a pretty well stocked 20Gallon tank.
Now if you are on about flow you could prob get away with a powerhead or maybe even two.
To...
Seems the cheaper end of the market are all pretty much good quality these days :)
I actually use the Aqua one CF1200 mentioned in the original post and tbh I find it as good is not better than my Ehiem!
Quality is spot on but I find maintainance easier!
purely at a guess I'd say 12/16 but you'd be far better asking the seller bud.
I'd personally advise against buying it as you could blow harder than 150lt/hr and it will be very much reduced by kinks in the hose and the length of the hose.
I too have the same idea of keeping all the equipment out of the tank.
The way round I have gone for is using 2 black power heads in the top corners of the tank with a black background.
Basically what isn't out of the tank is camoflaged.
The two I've got for the back corners are 2800lt hr...
thats a very good point. Flow and filteration need to be considdered seperately.
The filter you have has a large enough turnover and media capacity to be adequate for the tank unless you overstock the tank massively.
The flow 1050 from your filter should be considdered as part of your overall...
having read up on this and spoken to alot of others I have got 22x flow for my 300lt tank.
Will be setting this up in the next week or so and will find out if it is right.
I am running 1700 flow in my 80lt at the mo and it is by no means too much I can assure you.
I would look at adding the...
Benificial bactieria.
The whole point of using declorinator is the remove the chlorine before it harms the bacteria.
I understand that heavly planted tanks go through less of a cycle but surely adding chlorine to the tank will introduce a small ammonia spike causing an algae bloom too!
personally I just shut off both taps on my filters at the same time before turning the power off.
I just use the water inside the filter to rinse the media, dump it and fill it with dechlored water before restarting. Normally don't have to prime at all then :)
Cheers for the link there!
I've just picked up my new tank and its got a used aqua one 1200 with it. I was going to buy new seals for when I set it all up just incase!
Someone gave me a link to a good site for custom rubber hoses that were really reasonable in price.
Will send you the link later as I'm at work just now!
the pro 130 (or 2032) is rated to 500lhr but in reality I think if you were to add polishing pads or floss and it was a few feet below the tank you'd find it closer to the 300 mark.
this would be pretty close to the x10 mark and with a spray bar shouldn't be too much for the tank.
the...
I am looking at buying a secondhand tank and it has this pump with it,
http://www.online-garden-centre.com/pro ... vance.html
just wondered if anyone has got one currently?
Are they noisy? Can you use your own media etc?
cheers, chris
