i use the fluvel thing with the top removed and a tie wrap instead to reduce the kink in the hose when filling.

never seen these over tank filters, I'll look in to that tomorrow. my other thought was co2 loss on a 7' high tec. a canister is obviously more efficient. although it can be done with a sump it adds technicality's. i was hoping for one good build than hassle free maintenance.

Hammerite is great stuff but bloody expensive and messy go with the blackboard paint you wont be disappointed. id photo mine but it just looks black. blackboard paintis handy for other odd jobs 2 water-resistant and dries in 4 hours no primmer or undercoat.

rated 2000lph is pretty high. i think if i split it under the power heads i should get good distribution and should stop the farting. im starting to get fed up with co2 wish id got t8 lighting.

ive tried the bubbles straight in to the fx5 but it filled will gas. although i do have a plan i'll split the pump flow in 2 and run a boyu under each power head. should solve my problem. but think that's a project for the weekend. ill let you know how it goes.

yeah i tried to glue it forgot to mention that it cant easily be used for reactor building, i tried and failed. i think using it as a spray bar at 700mm you should be ok. mine was so long it was hard to support whilst cleaning. was a year old to.

i tried several reactors but they couldn't cope with the injection rate. i like the in line seems better only small bubbles come out unfortunately they end up as large out of the spray bar.

smaller holes seems the norm. but Steve if you make your holes larger the pressure should be less which should ease the fierceness. are any of you guys using in line atomizers

no its definitely the co2 causing the bubbles once its of they stop. you say your worried about your holes mine might be to big.

ok for anyone thinking of trying this injection method. it didn't work as well as id hoped. the atomizer seemed to get dirty to quickly, this reduced the gas flow giving me algae. back to the drawing board.

ive asked about this before cant remember who said it or which thread. but basically i was told that if you vacuum the substrate then return the water to the tank, all the ammonia in will be returned also.so its was best to just bin the water. made sense to me so out the window the water goes.

cant see any bubbles in the tank mate. its on the out flow side, so the co2 bubbles don't go in the filter. the fx5s not really crunching anything, got to be better for the filter. it was really simple to do probably took 20 minutes.

Re: hypothetical fx5 (now fitted) filter turned up today super fast from e bay seller. set up in under an hour. only thing is i have to keep getting up to check its still running so quiet and im surprised at how powerful better than i could have hoped.

ill definitely try your method so simple why not. im glad you talk so highly of it. ill just be glad not to have to put buckets of water in every day to keep the level in the sump above my reactors. and a bit of less noise the hum of the pump does spoil the relaxing part a bit.

i get mine from home base £10ish for 3. you can plug stuff in next to sort of underneath them as well, so they only really use 1 socket. been using some for over a year and they all work fine

10mm glass is strong should be ok a lot of tanks with a plastic base are only supported round the edge my fluvl 125 for example. my guess is you would be ok but a bit of ply done right wouldnt stand out made my whole stand out of ply that used to be a fence at work bit of sanding bit of gloss...

how thick is the glass if its really thick you might get away with it. or if not 18mm ply wood would be more than strong enough.
