Im going to do a big water change tomorrow, ill try to get a picture up, havent really been keeping the journal going recently. Ive got some rummy noses, 10 of them, ermm thats all i can think of at the minute, ill do a proper update tomorrow. :)

Thanks everyone. I think i bought around 14kg of the stone, in 2-3kg chunks but I should have got some heavier, larger pieces as the smaller ones just didnt have enough impact in the tank. Anyone else any thoughts?

The tank is now a week old, and there haven't been any major problems. Some wood came loose a few days ago and I mucked up the substrate a bit while I repositioned it, and also the filter outlet wasn't blasting the c02 around effectively, but I have fixed that and apart from them minor problems...

Great fish choice there exactly what I am going for in my tank. I saw them a few months back at my lfs, and did a bit of research and I believe they are not gold tetras but platinum tetras Hemigrammus vorderwinkleri

The tank is looking nice Tom :clap: When I had my cherrys, I noticed the males "fighting", and my females were also pretty plump, but it never came to anything :( . I didn't have them for a long time though so you never know :wink:

I agree with you on the naturesoil, it's fantastic. The top of main stone is a little flat, but other than that it looks good. As for the algae the edge of a credit card has always worked well for me. Good luck with the planting.

Re: Alex's 96l low light Iwagumi Well, it's been a busy week, sorting out the tank, and revising for an RE and maths exam... I'm pooped :lol: I t was worth it though, as I now have a layout which I am happy with... First of all, I had to sort out the sand, as my barrier, wasn't too effective...

Very nice tank and equipment :) Those pictures really show how pink the arcpod's light are, it looked much better with the ADA solar lamp.

That'll look ace in a few months, when all the leaves of the different plants start to intertwine... I can't help but think maybe some moss for the wood would help?

Or you could even place some small rocks around the base of the wood, and plant around them to provide extra interest.

I love the first pic, with the light shimmering on the water surface, and I like how in the second, you can see the rotola's refelction on the surfae. :)

Re: saintly's 120cm iwagumi I believe the true rummynoses aren't as colourful as the false rummynose (petitella georgiae).

The plants came on Thursday so i planted them all up, but found the microsorum "narrow" was a bit too large so i put it in another tank. I put the rotala in the back with the cabomba, and the cryptocoryne parva in between the wood. The cabomba has grown a lot, but the hairgrass isn't doing much...

Another update. I started to get bored of seeing the "dust" on the wood so i decided to take action. So I took both pieces out of the tank and gave them a good old wipe with some kitchen towel. I think it was just rotted plant debris in the substrate that had been disturbed during maintenance...

Time for an update. The marsilea was getting covered in algae so I removed it (sorry beeky). I also moved half of the eleocharis to the front and will soon be ordering a crptocoryne wendetti tropica to put where the eleocharis was. Other plants I may be ordering as well are cryptocoryne parva...

Nice tank as usual. I bet the shrimp love it in there.

Got the cabomba today it was three pots for a fiver from pets at home. It's really healthy some of them have even started to flower. Theres loads too I could only just fit it all in. The tank looks much less bare now. Thanks for looking. Please comment.

Thanks ceg. I'll unplug one of the arcpods then, don't know about the water changes though. My mum says " i could be doing some ironing now" every week when were doing the water changes! Shame she doesn't trust me to do them by myself. :( It's not like im clumsy... I'll see if i can persuade...

Yes i am noticing a spots of brown algae (diatoms?) on the tank walls. I am thinking of getting some cabomba maybe or hygrophila polysperma temporarily for the backgroung to starve the algae? Got any other suggestions?
