Here's an update. 4 White Cloud Mountain Minnows added. Plant growth very good. No algae. Everything is growing in nicely.

thanks for the comment. The plant is indeed hydrocotyle tripartita or sometimes referred to as hydrocotyle sp.japan. I will keep the crypts in mind but I will see how things pan out in the upcoming weeks before I decide.

Went to the FreshWaterShrimp showroom on thursday, very impressed with the setups that they have there. At the same time i got some mosses (weeping, christmas and taiwan) and amazon frogbits. Here's the tank after planting and flooding.

I will be adding fauna once the tank matures. Don't want to use a heater so that's already going to restrict what I can have, but then again I might be tempted to add one later. Looking at white clouds or my favourite, celestial pearl danios.

moss hasn't been trimmed yet, will trim it when it gets longer so i can re use it. shrimps were 4 for £14, but being a known customer to them, they done 5 for £15.

hi, the net is a shower scrunchy. You don't cut the net otherwise the riccia will float.

looks like a good start. i would personally go for an external filter, you want something that has good flow to circulate water around the tank to distribute nutrients, etc evenly. Are you currently dosing any fertilisers? HC will need the addition of CO2 and a more intenser light source (2WPG...

Mine tends to stay in the lower part as well where all the plants are, probably because they like the cover of plants, giving them that security. But when i stand and observe my tank they all tend to come out and swim in front of me, maybe because they know its feeding time. :lol:

i agree with Radik, DIY CO2 to fluctuate depending on the amount of yeast and sugar you put in. With a disposable kit, CO2 is more constant and stable and you can adjust the amount of CO2 coming out the bottle as well. It's something worth considering.

just a quick update, my new plants have yet to adapt to their condition so hopefully in a few days time they will take off. The Java Moss is now showing sign of growth, maybe in few weeks time it will be tall enough for my Danios to breed in.

love the hardscape, choice of plants and the path, compliments the tank really well

Thanks nayr88, i'll see what i can do with background, lol, the Celestial Pearl Danio is a fantastic fish. The only thimg i am feeding them are TetraMin. They seem to love it. It brings out their colour, especially the two males when they are sparring against each other. I manage to breed them...
