    Tom's 60cm Manzanita Scape

So having recently took order of a 60x40x40cm Optiwhite tank from the guys the The Green Machine I began thinking of what I was going to do with it and came across Tom Barr's manzanita wood, and having family based in the US meant it was pretty easy to get it shipped over. I got some amazing...

    Tom's 30cm Cube v.2

Yeh I agree on the rocks, didn't want them too tall though, im only planning crypt parvula in the foreground, so hopefully the rocks should stay clear. Just got the wood yesterday, heres how it looks in the tank. What does everyone think? Cheers Tom

    Tom's 30cm Cube v.2

Thanks Neil. The space at the back is for the sumatra wood, which should be here in the next day or two! That will add plenty of height, im just hoping that I can tie it all together. Tom

    Tom's 30cm Cube v.2

Some of you may remember my 30cm cube from the start of the year, which, unfortunately after a very busy summer fell into a state of disrepair. So, inspired by a number of tanks on here, I decided to completely re-scape it. To go with the new scape, i also bought a Hydor external heater and a...

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Well this scape is pretty much finished now, just waiting for the hairgrass to totally grow in. The HC is growing very dense, so looks like i shall have to rip it up sometime and start again! Heres a picture taken today:

    Tom's 30cm Cube

The tank is still going well, removed the old filter in place of the new one. Growth is looking a bit white on the p.helferi, so ive upped my tropica PN dosing. Sorry about my rather poor attempt at taking/editing photos, really cant get the hang of it! Cheers Tom

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Yeh its been very easy, no problems what so ever. The changes in colour are really noticable in differing lights, while I had just the one light running it stayed green, but within a day of putting the second light back on its already turning I nice orange colour (as you can see!) Tom

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Thanks Mark, the plant is something I found at the Green Machine; 'Proserpinaca palustris' I believe. Turns a nice shade of orangey/red under strong light, hopefully i'll be able to get near that with the second light going! Can't wait to see your new tank btw! Tom

    Sedona - 20L (Liza's Tank - Update)

Re: Liza's 20L Nano Tank Its looking really nice! Good choice with the Acicularis, I think it has defiantely added something to the scape. Can't wait to see it when the foreground fills in! Tom

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Yeh my last tank had a lot of hairgrass in it and it looked really good, guess this just needs some time to grow in!

Im still undecided on the hairgrass, how do you all think it looks? Tom

    Tom's 30cm Cube

I must apologise for the lack of activity in this thread, the tank has recently become totally over run with algae! So a couple of days ago i started adding excel (2x overdosed) and added another filter. (current flow rate is about 24x!) I will remove the old one after the new one has matured...

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Well your coments about the moss Howard confirmed something I had been thinking about for a while, so during a water change yesterday I decided to get rid of it, it was detracting from the scape and was a major algae magnet! Not sure what to do in its place, may get rid of the rocks and put...

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Re: Tom's 30cm Cube - Update 22/9/08 Thanks Howardish :) Ive had my first algae attack this week, not too sure what im doing wrong, CO2 is high so is my dosing. Stats are all normal aswell :S. So within a few days the uppers of all the plants got taken over by algae, so today I took the...

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Thanks for all the kind comments, the tank is still going strong, everything is growing nicely! I tried to have a fiddle with the spraybar/diffuser but I really couldnt find any other way to have it, but thanks for the help Garuf. Yeh I realised my mistake after I had written it, knew someone...

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Cheers guys! Im going to give the tank a couple of weeks to let it grow through, then decide on a background. Tom

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Thanks for that Garuf, i'll have to give it a try! Just started E.I. dosing this week, the glosso is still doing well and the Pogostemon helferi is starting to grow, I think it was just shedding the old leaves as it is looking much healtheir now and all the dead leaves had dropped off. The...

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Ceg4048: Yeh I tried to positiuon the moss so that it transfers onto the wood, so hopefully it will give it a nice covering! I cranked the CO2 up today, so we will see if that has any effect on the tissue loss. The reason i suspected that it might just be shedding old leaves is because there are...

    Tom's 30cm Cube

Thanks for all the comments guys! Yeh i'm really chuffed with the wood, got it from the Green Machine, a couple of pieces Mark had apparantly been 'saving' only cost about a tenner for the two pieces aswell! 2 weeks in and the tank is developing nicely, the Ludwigia arcuata (right corner) and...

    Tom's 30cm Cube

I have been the owner of a 45 gallon tank for som time now, but recently have really struggled to keep it under control just because of a major lack of time. So I decided to go for something a little smaller, a 30cm float glas cube. I made a trip down to the Green Machine( amazing place, amazing...
