is nice to hear other peoples stories, all the tanks i saw before i got into the planted tanks are the ones with floressent sculls and ships in them!!! i will Never look back and im in the process of making a malawi biotope, the only plant will be algae!!

My water goes down the loo, i live in a 2nd floor apartment and dont have any plants. :( this is soon to change whn i finish the tile work in the kitchen and get some plants and herbs in there!! :D

you could just use a pre mixed fert like Tropica Plant Nutrition + (PNT+) saves all the messing with dry salts (good if you are lazy like me :P )
i have 1.5 wpg and my plants grow well i am using co2 and PNT+ and some excell.

Again thank you for replying i was realey worried about moveing my tank but am not so now the biggest problem is catching all the animals living in my tank, i can produce 50L of water in storage barrels so as soon as the tank lands in my new house.

draining it and transporting it empty i can do but can anyone help with the shrimp catching i like the idea of a trap thing but some more information (picks) would be verry helpfull, my harlequins wont be easy to catch they shoal well but hide if you go near the tank the ottos are easily fooled...
is a 60L i dont want to have to re scape the tank when i move it i just dont want the substrate to get washed around when i move the tank!!

i have been round to the local aquatics shop (on the road next to my house less than 5 min walk) and they have a water ph of about 5 and a gh of at most 40.
i have removed the plants from the tank to clean them up and remove dead leaves, the test kit is new only as old as the tank! the buffers change the coular of the test. i will get a diffrent kit and test again.

i decided to check the ph of the water in the tank and is was quite acidic about ph4, i adjusted it up to about 7 but the level keeps dropping. i dont have co2 on the ank and i know this effects the ph. any ideas what i can do to keep the ph around neutral?

the plants are 3 days old and in the correct water (recomended on lable) the same white fur is on the plants that have been effected by this

some of my plants leaves are turning into green mush i dont want to waste £30 of plants because of a bit of wood, have done a 80% water change and have got the wood in boiling water in the sink.

i have removed it just want to make sure it dont killl my other plants, dont have a pan big enough to fit it in so is in the bath in verry hot water
i have just had to remove my bogwood from my tank because it was covered in white fury mold and has killed my anubias, what can i do to stop the other plant dieing?

i have some rummy nose tetras some guppies and 2 quite big feather fin cats. this new tank is mainly to house the catfish in. think they would eat the shrimp
i dont have co2 (too expensive) can you recommend any algie eaters? does a high flow filter system help with algie, the filter i have is only small, the tank is a 60l.
how soon can i put my fish into the newly planted tank the filter has been on the old tank to get it going and the water in the new tank is slightly clowdy but getting clearer?
