Not sure the mushing should happen, but others with experience might explain why. I think I have the same as the guys above, no mush in any of the tanks I have. Tescos cat litter another great very cheap source for it. Again , give it a good rinse to get rid of perfume and most of the dust.

Agree with everything Henry has said here, reflects all my experiences. Leaving it for a few days in place in the tank and gentle manipulation to remove trapped air is key. I rushed my setup given time limitations. Which turned into a false economy as resetting the hardscape had to be done 3...

I didn't manage to get it to run clear after an hr of disturbing it and rinsing. It just went in after that. Was ok ie cleared quickly and has settled down ok with no issues other than it's very light which can make planting a pain.

cheers lindy thats what i ended up doing at the weekend. still not happy though. i can see a further rescape at the weekend. which will annoy my better half massively....

quick question but how long will it take for the akadama to settle down, absorb water and air to be released? I saw alot of movement in the hardscape and lots of air released after flooding and can still see some pockets sat around so wondered whether i need to actively stir it up a little or...

Guys, welcome some views here. Currently planning next scape and am considering teaming up cat litter, dragon stone and unipac Fuji sand. Likely to be an island configuration with wood included (redmoor root). Cat litter rocks and wood in centre and sand beach surrounding (ie not capping)...

Agreed it took 4hrs to clean 3 bags worth.......do it in smaller batches :) If you are trying to bulk up have you thought about throwing it into some tights then it will stay exactly where you want it?

Assuming this is the rescape from the old tank. Tempted by the led ? What's the considered opinion?
