most of my attention sat and sun will be on aquatics live its gonna top last year for sure and last year was great :thumbup:

had/have some salawesi elephant snails which are very cool
some blue ramshorns and mts ... think they look great working there way around the tank :thumbup:

I have noticed that lots of the succesful tanks on here use the more premiun substrates, + alot of skill lol that im still trying to emulate.
haha my next tank will have some ada substrate which annoyingly will be one less thing i can blame my own failures on :~)

I feel like i have a really good flow in my tank, however i dont think i could possibly have enough to move all the detritus around my tank to the out take.
i like to do as clive suggeested to antipofish and do aggressive water changes, plus i always hover up any detritus off my gravel where...
I remember reading this article soon after i had set my tank up ... and i feel the same now as i did then, which is why did i not see this before!!! haha I started to find alot more out about a planted tank just past the point of no return :(
My next set up which will be a while from now will...
I think a planted tank would make a great discussion at the unseen university and Rincewind would be well served by his instincts, to run away :)

My tank was not initially set up in the walstad mould ... no substrate, too many fish and not enough plants (im planting alot more now). Considering it says expert next to your name, im gonna get...

I have been reading a fair bit which i think is part of my problem :crazy:
especially d.walstad's book, i need a scientific dictionary to get me through most of the paragraphs
touch wood i have been relatively ok so far even though i think i have to few plants and too many fish...

but i keep reading from people on here ( some very succesful peeps) who are saying this method is flawed?

Im trying to run a low tech tank (all the specs are in my journal) I am constantly confused on the issue of water...
Luckily for me im a dreamer not a doer :lol:
now i have got this far i will sit back and watch things grow (hopefully)
admittedly while daydreaming about a dozen other tanks i wished i had the skill to achieve
not sure if i will make it to 6 months without any level of water change ... i...

ive ordered some red root floaters to cut my light down a bit
im still not sure about 0 water changes ... was thinking about trying to diy
a tube with some floss or something in to do a wasite clean up but cycle the water
straight back into the tank.

the poor tank so far has not stood a chance through my 50% water changes, then random 30/40 % while i try to clean every last piece of gravel!
time to concentrate on my plant care and understanding...

New to the hobby and trying not to ask too many questions before i have had a read, but sometimes my brain is very much like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole!!
my tank is a 300 ltre low tech
just lights and filtration
im becoming obsessed with cleaning (my wife will never attest to...
sadly i have 3-5mm gravel in my tank .. and its a lot of pounds to end up with an unhappy fish, luckily as im finding the urge to rescape is near constant :lol: so i dont think it will be too long until i have a tank they would be happy in. Or better still maybe i could get a second tank :clap:
would love to see some pics of those :D plus do you think they are worth the notes cause they look cracking .. or is that a stupid question considering you have five :mrgreen:
they are not that bad at amwells (they gave me a good deal last time we went in :D )... but there fish can be a bit pricey
