Hi all,
That looks like plec (Loricariid) feeding damage.
Overgrown jungle:......
Otocinclus ×5
Parotocinclus haroldoi ×2
Otothyropsis Piribebuy (?) ×5
Ancistrus sp (bristlenose) ×1

Stem heavy tank. .....
Parotocinclus haroldoi ×1
Otocinclus ×5
Otothyropsis Piribebuy (?) ×4
Ancistrus sp (albino bristlenose) ×1
You have a choice of plecs.

cheers Darrel

John, what is this fish?
Anomalochromis thomasi. Aka African butterfly cichlid.

Absolutely correct. The result of a 2week holiday and no veggie treats. I'm glad they found something to nibble on in my absence to be honest.

Afternoon all. Small update on the overgrown tank, its had a trim.

And now looks like this.

Due to work commitments, family life and me kind of getting bogged down maintaining 2 4ft co2 injected tanks the above tank went 3 weeks without a water change, 2 weeks without macros and a week without micros, shame on me.
The inhabitants are fine, which is the main thing and overall plant health seems ok.

No critter pics this week, but have some shots of the plants during water change.

I also found a small colony of Tangerine tigers in the filter.

In other news my co2 ran out on the other tank this morning, I have 8 spare 2kg cylinders but they are at work so the tanks spending today and tomorrow in darkness.

Last but not least the fert levels have been tweaked a little, I've been running the same amounts for a few months so decided a bit of tinkering was in order.

New numbers are. Front loaded water going into the tank.
N03 13.5
K 5.6
P04 1.67
Ca 13
Mg 5
Dosed daily full tank volume. Numbers per week.
Fe 0.116
Mn 0.58
N 0.56 (from urea)

Thanks for reading.

Sounds familiar… during summer time I hardly get a chance to enjoy and maintain my tanks. I can only imagine how overgrown they would be if I would be injecting CO2.

the above tank went 3 weeks without a water change, 2 weeks without macros and a week without micros
Pretty much sounds like my maintenance routine:)

Cheers,
Michael
