glass co2 diffusers

is there a difference between a cheap 99p Chinese diffuser and say for instance a Dennerle crystal pipe diffuser except for the obvious quality in glass, I'm thinking more of the workings than aesthetic.

Difference is thickness of glass if they are glass diffusers.

My 99p China Ebay specials were very thin glass compared to a much thicker and expensive UK sources diffuser.

My 99p ones all broke during cleaning and/or trying to get the CO2 tubing back on. I still have the thicker glass one, but no where near as good as an inline diffuser.

I now have an UP 22mm inline diffuser instead of glass diffuser.

I have also been through numerous 99p China Ebay glass drop checkers. Again thin glass compared to UK sourced one. All of these are broken now, the China ones just spontaneously fall apart, usually sucker attachment breaking off and the UK one got dropped during cleaning.

I now use the much much superior JBL drop checker, it's plastic so can be dropped during cleaning and has a white insert in it so you can easily see the fluid colour.

i like this drop checker a lot, my only pet peeve is the O-Ring wears out and the top gets loose, but for the price of the thing i can't really complain about that happening after 2 years.

Remove O-ring, apply silicone grease/oil, put back. Another couple of years use. Done.

I use this (also handy for push fit waste plumbing).

i've got silicon lube for the external filters (always keep it handy for reviving or seating O-Rings) i tried it on the jbl drop checker but it just didn't want to revive the O-Ring, i got my use out of it though, and would highly recommend it just for the white insert to check the colour properly.
