I’ve seen kessils in the flesh at riverwood aquatics and I like the natural look they produce. The rendition of my vivid is excellent and I can tweek the colour and temperature rating. if I got the kessils, I would keep the vivid light. I guess i just fancy a change.

I just feed cucumber to my tank, I have cucumber available almost every day of the week. I leave the green algae that covered some rocks, bog wood and even on some Anubis leaves. my otos are breeding too, so it must be enough. I only see them at night though, but my tank is planted and grown out.

I’m building a lagoon reef tank, for my overflow I was going to build a coast 2 coast ghost overflow. my background will be black, but frosted could work. The whole back wall will be a weir, then the bean animal overflow pipes would be behind it.

silicone is not petroleum based, it’s formed from silica. Vaselines main ingredient is petroleum, which will degrade rubber.

don’t use Vaseline as it’s petroleum based. I use silicone spray

It’s actually quite a complex filter with so many seals, I do worry in the future how many spare seals I’ll need.

I have cherry shrimp and two Amano shrimp, they mainly come out at night...a few Pop out during the day but it’s not often.My otos do swim around independently, it was just this behaviour I observed in the morning with lights off. shimpiana Jones :)

I have some wood extruding from the water surface and I’m contemplating having Bucephalandra growing from the waterline. If I have the roots and rhizome below the water surface, will that prevent the plant from drying up due to a lack of humidity?

First sighting on aliexpress for the vivid 2, £280 delivered. Im not entirely sure how accurate that is because only one store has them listed. It seems that might have been from a US supplier, as it can be seen for as little as £230 delivered from Hong Kong.

I bet you could run a planted tank without a filter, just by using a powerhead for flow. You would have enough surface area on the within bogwood, rocks, substrate and with the assistance of plants to house enough bacteria to convert ammonia (or uptake by the plants) Reef tanks have used that...

unfortunetly the only thing the hobby grade UV and Ozone is good for is water clarity, a more effective solution is an effective quarrentine program. Personally I would ditch the UV.

I decided to go with the Radion XR15FW, Ive seen they will produce shimmer/glitter lines while having more red in the spectrum than the kessils. I like the twinstars but I want puck style light fixtures as Im hanging the lights from the ceiling with the power cord going into the ceiling too.

I dont quite understand how as the 160 is 40w and the 360 is 90w, so around 50% the power. The lens is the same and both fixtures quote the same coverage, the only difference I can see according to the specs is that the 360 has better penertration, which is up to 3ft where as te 160 it says max...

What lights are they?

I had one, and they don’t have the same head rating as advertised, it really drops off. Not so important in planted, unless you have shrimp but one of the stainless steel screws corroded and led to all my sps corals RTN and loosing them.

I agree, I was baffled by the Aquascaper range being 2ft wide, I apricate the depth allows greater aquascapes, however the difference in floor space between a 20" wide aquarium and 24" aquarium is quite substantial.

No you will comprise the structural integrity, A rimless glass tank will be constructed with thicker glass, than the equivalent braced aquarium.

I think the aquascaper Aquariums are the nicest freshwater tanks on the market at the moment. I like the dimensions as they are pleasing on the eye. I think the freshwater tanks need modernising in the industry, IMO
