It's hard to say i'm afraid. Did you just get one bottle of blue solution or a number of small vials? Some companies, like Dennerle for instance sell the DC with a ready mixed solution in plastic viles.... If it's just one bottle then using a few drops with standard 4dkh water is fine. Cheers

You often find that with silicone hose I don't think it's detrimental but I'd swop it for CO2 hose from AE.

I've done setups with and without PTFE, I do think CO2 lasts longer with PTFE on every seal. In my view it stands to reason, be it to "correct" stuff or not, it creates a better seal, doesn't it? I'm like Chris in that I have no formal training, just seems like common sense to me.

Then I'd just slowly increase the CO2 over a few days till it gets to a nice lime green :D

To my knowledge, normal airline or silicone tubing allows CO2 to pass through the walls of the tube. When the solenoid is on you're trying to "hold" pressure within the tube and airline tubing isn't designed to do and can't do it. CO2 tubing from someone like AE will probably work better. I...

It really depends on what regulator you have, do you know if it fits or not? If it does then it could be a good buy, i've not bought welding CO2 before but some people do use it.

It shouldn't cause you any problems, it's never caused me any. I had loads of BBA issues when using a solenoid, it disappeared almost instantly after going 24/7.

That sounds fair Sam, my only observation when using an undersized diffuser is that the bubbles that are emitted from the ceramic disc seem to be bigger and in theory less likely to dissolve?

No you don't have to fill it with water, generally they just end up with water in them anyway but you don't NEED water in there. They are pretty good diffusers.

That looks like a great piece of kit, i might get one myself! Having a lock on the door will really help if it's possible, it could prevent all manner of potential disasters.

How long was the filter off for when you rescaped? If it's over a few hours then most of your bacteria would have died of and you need to repopulate it. Adding some ammonia in a brand new tank would speed things up a bit but they will almost always cycle since there is always some ammonia in...

I have a rhinox 2000 in 160l tank and mine chirps too, no idea as so the BPS but I don't think it's excessive for this particular diffuser, the rhinox 5000 in my other tank doesn't do it though.

It certainly looks right pal, maybe a better type of media in the reactor? Tetra Bio Balls amy be more effective but i'm only surmising here as like i said, i have no real experience with them.

Hi mate, I have plenty of FEs, the dumpy ones are wider so if floor space in the cabinet is limited then a taller one might be better. The taller ones sit at around 650mm high and the dumpy ones about 550mm. Let me know if you decide to take this route and i should be able to sort you out.

It can't be the DC, it must be the solution IMO. I had a dodgy batch from AE but it was a very long time ago, my DC was always yellow.

A drop in flow is generally the only issue but i haven't used one so i can't comment first hand.

IMO yes, an inline reactor wouldn't hurt on a tank that size. You can use whatever powerhead you like as long as it's rated high enough for your tank. Them hydo ones are good though, worth the money IMO. How come you want a powerhead? is the filter flow not up to much?

Me neither, there are a few out there that convert the other way. I bet you could get a disposable reg on ebay cheap, failing that I have one i'd swap depending on the brand....

Looks like a nice reg. If to take a spanner to the nut on the pressure dial you may be able to give it half a turn which will spin the dial enough for the bubble counter to sit neatly behind it. It may already be tightened up to it max but it's the only way i can see of doing it. Be careful...

Hiya, no need to do anything except connect the CO2 hose before you put it in, it's way hard under water and your likely to break it. I and many others locate the diffuser underneath the filter inlet. Works great. HTH

Na, they were happy to replace it but it was a massive faff, i wasn't in a situation to be messing about videoing, posting and arguing the toss over somthing that was below par from day one, life was easier once i removed it. My BBA when away to :wink:

YEP! i had this issue with the same reg and sol deal from AM. I had a mare getting it sorted and gave up in the end and removed the solanoid. AM will be willing to take it back but they will want video evidence.

I just use water, it does evaporate but I just fill it up when it gets close to empty.

I know george uses the JBL reg etc along with loads of other JBL stuff, what i've seen and used of it it all seems real good quality.

Could these spurts or burps be just a build up of oxygen and other gasses which in a situation without the reactor in the line of flow would just be expelled into the aquarium without a noticeable burp? A lot of people who have their diffuser placed just below the filter inlet see this happening...

I don't turn mine off, 24/7. I found that using a solanoid was contributing to BBA (inconsistent Co2) since changing i have had no probs. I also have minimal surface aggitation too, each system is different i suppose.

I'm taking a guess here since i've not used or seen the DD stuff. Can you not screw the reg to the FE and leave the gauges facing skyward ie. you can only view the guages from above? Is the thread on the FE and reg the same? i know AE do a converter from DD to FE...

I believe that for a tank of that size an inline reactor is generally used. I'm sure somone will let you know which one is best. (i have never needed one)
