    Dutchi-gumi

Cheers james i do love those black lava rocks, thing is tho they are only active when the lights are off, but they are quite easy to propogate if you provide a balaced nutritious substrate, they also eat hair algae, lol. I did like the way i had originally but I thought the scape was starting...

Hey guys, An update for this tank is long overdue. As you can see from the picture below my scape has evolved a little.

    Aqauoak 200L escapade..

Thats almost exactly how my community tank started out, it has changed over the years now mine is mostly java fern.

I have to admit when I started reading the journal I didn't expect to see such an impressive recovery. I love this tank.

    Back to my roots

What screws did use for this, brass? I might have a go with some of my own driftwood.
  15. O'Neil

    Back to my roots

I really like that piece of driftwood Ian. I have a fluval roma 200, which is a basic planted tank, really nothing special at all. It's about 95% java fern, but i love it. It hasn't changed for over a year now and think it's time for an update, but nothing too drastic. I'm wanting to try new...

The Forsaken World (Final photo.. scape now ended)

This is a stunning tank and a very detailed journal, congrats and thanks for sharing.

    Dutchi-gumi

Only development this week is I have increased photoperiod by 1 hour and keeping ferts at the same level. Just done a big clean and removed some leaves, will post a more detailed update next weekend with pictures.
  18. O'Neil

    Dutchi-gumi

Thanks mate, Hmmmm could that be why I had holes in some leaves? I think I read something by "the ceg" along the lines of (holes in leaves always co2) not really sure tbh, I may have made that up, lol. I hadn't noticed the shrimp but they do seem more vibrant, I'm hoping they breed and fill...

    Dutchi-gumi

Cheers Ady. The new Alternanthera has almost doubled in a week, I think the issue was light. I had a look around in a pet shop and found that you can buy bulbs for this tank from the manufacturer "for plants". I then had a bit of a google and found that the ones I had in, had almost no red...
  20. O'Neil

    Dutchi-gumi

Got the Up Atomiser fitted over the weekend :D I did get a small amount of fine green algae so I've dialled back on the ferts slightly till the plants get bigger. Considering adding more Eleocharis sp 'mini' to help it fill in a bit faster but beyond that I'm happy with how things are going...
  21. O'Neil

    Dutchi-gumi

Yeah I'm looking forward to that, mainly so I can remove the ugly white tubing. I'll have to learn patience, lol.
  22. O'Neil

    Dutchi-gumi

Thanks Tim, I wish they'd grow already, lol.

    Dutchi-gumi

3 week update. Lights The new APS light system is now up and running, I'm only using two of the four lights and a 7 hour photoperiod. I know how much we all love pics so I took this one for you (sorry about the photo quality) Ferts I have gone from dosing 10mil of macro and trace to...

  26. O'Neil

    Dutchi-gumi

All of the Nymphoides Leaves have melted away, but i'm not too concerned as there is new growth at the base already. I think it may be down to the Easy Carbo but I have no real evidence to support my theory other than they were thriving till I used it, so fingers crossed. The Alternanthera...
  27. O'Neil

    Dutchi-gumi

Breif update will upload pics tomorrow. The Nymphoides was thriving and now it has started melting, The only thing I can think of is that it may be sensitive to liquid Co2 afterall. I also stumbled accross a thread on this forum discussing Nymphoides sp Taiwan and liquid carbon. Deficiancy...

Lol, sorry for the slow reply mate, got the message this morning on tapatalk but didn't have good enough reception to reply, lol. It's my old online gaming name for Call of Duty, it was deliberately ridiculous so that those that got spanked by me would remember when they saw me again.....it...

Fluval Studio 900. Sticks and Stones.

It's not you mate that is a very poor explanation, lol What I should have said is this "I'm seeking an alternative to Estimative Index when I scape the 200ltr tank as the position of the tank would make lots of water changes a nightmare" EI is what I'm doing for the Black Lava Rock scape. I...

Fluval Studio 900. Sticks and Stones.

That's probably where I made the connection between you and George. Seen loads of his 'scapes, must have recognised it subconsciously or something, lol. Yeah I'm looking forward to getting the Roma going, but still got alot of working out to do, I won't be doing EI on a 200Ltr tank tho because...

Fluval Studio 900. Sticks and Stones.

Nice one Ady you've done it again. How do you and George always find such interesting pieces of wood, is it just a gamble or do you seek it out? I plan to give a wood scape a go in my 200 once I upgrade the lighting, but thats gonna wait till my current project matures.

    Peisaj (landscape)

Cheers mate, is the tank a fluval Roma tho? if so did it not come with T8 lighting as standard?
  42. O'Neil

    Peisaj (landscape)

Wow this is awesome! A few quick questions tho: - is that a Fluval Roma? - How did you modify the lighting? EDIT Found the lighting, that's genius!! I'm guessing you had to change the flappy plastic bits too, what did you do for those?
  43. O'Neil

    Dutchi-gumi

Nice one cheers Ian, will get some today then. I think another key factor will be, the trimming to try and achieve the look i'm after, as well as cutting and replanting to fill it all in. I'm looking forward to it growing in, once the plants have had a good start I can then start to work on...

    Dutchi-gumi

Found an app by tropica on the iphone and when I've been reading through it it says to add shrimps and snails on day 3. Considering I'm using Amazonia substrate which I have read will leach ammonia is this not far too soon? I have no intention of adding any livestock at the moment, but when...

  48. O'Neil

    Dutchi-gumi

Seems I have miscalcualted a bit, I wasn't due to receive the plants today they were getting dispatched today, lol. They were delayed initially but that's not TGM's fault, that was down to Tropica. Will update again with some more interesting pics when I get the plants. Just a side note to...

    259L bookcase rebirth

Re: 259L bookcase tank - CO2 diffusion issues I had the same problem with HC, I upped the CO2 a little and it started to bounce back a bit, then I added a better pump and got a spurt of new growth, I think and correct me if I'm wrong but CO2 and circulation seem to be key with this plant.

Hey guys, quick query regarding growth rates. First aquascape project

This is sort of a test run, before i try anything with 200 ltr i'm going to have a go with 33ltr and just try different things. Plus it gives me something to do till i save up enough money for an injected CO2 system. The plan goes as follows: Use pond soil substrate and cap with gravel...
