    Why is this happening?

What is the substrate? May help to diagnose the problem but maybe not  looks inert form your pics, anything under it?

I know all of my plants by name...

No, too thin for E. Bleheri but can't help further.

    What is this plant?

Just re-read this why do you think "It's definitely not Valisneria... " ????

    What is this plant?

If it is a vallis whatever the variety, you need to bear in mind that it doesn't work well with any liquid carbon if you use it.

Best way to plant HC Cuba? and a few other questions

Individual planting is usually best but this can depend on your (undefined) substrate.

    HC not doing well...

Hi Krish, Have you got a drop checker? What are the tank specs? Flow/distribution/dimensions/wc regime/stocking levels etc... 1bps may sound ok but each bubble counter has it's own size bubbles, I believe HC thrives on CO2, so you will probably need to maximise CO2 and the flow/distribution...

    More Advice Required Please

If the PH controller is switching CO2 on/off this will cause you problems. You would be better off without it. CO2 when lights on, needs to be more stable. I'm sure others will explain better. There has been many discussions about this topic here's one: http://ukaps.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=...

    Co2 and Lights

Sounds OK, without more specifics of your tank (filtration/flow/CO2 distribution method/fauna) it's difficult to advise one way or another. From the information you have given so far, I would go for CO2 on 2 hours before and leave it at one hour before lights off. This regime will only help...

Got a bargain, need a positive ID.

Seems to be a problem of MA or more specifically AquaFluer, I saw Anubias and the tag just said "Special" like they didn't know what it was! Good prices though and good quality looking plants.
  15. Simon D

    How long can they last?

Or cover the plastic with pebbles to create a distinctive and possible natural looking divide between the two sides?
  16. Simon D

    What is this?

I have to agree with Ed. They will last a little while submerged but then deteriorate and start polluting the water. Unfortunately there are too many local fish shops selling this sort of plant and whilst they look good initially it will only be initially. I have one near me that sells...

    Tonina fluviatilis

Nice business trip. What do you mean you didn't have your water test kit with you? Mine's like my Amex card: "Don't leave home without it" Seriously though, nice to see plants in their natural environment. Many thanks for the post.

    Decent plant dealers.

Good to know hands on experience!

    Myriophyllum mezianum turns brown

Not sure I can help but, what filtration are you using? Do you have any additional circulatory pump? It could be a problem with flow and the nutrients not reaching the lower growing stems. From what I've read the U/G heater won't help (but won't hinder either, just an unneccessary expence).

Advice on planting and maintaining a low light setup please?

hi, not wanting to hijack this thread, just wondering where Ceg stands on CO2 injection (he knows his stuff), Is a reactor superior to a diffisuer? Do plants benefit from misting of CO2 for better photosynthesis or is disolved CO2 have the same effect?

Advice on planting and maintaining a low light setup please?

Ceg always makes me laugh, he is just a computer program! I think he is KIT (The Hoffmeister doesn't need him any more) or maybe just been reprogrammed to deal with the planted aquarium   . joking aside this computer known as Ceg4048 really knows it's stuff. Its much better than...

    Id

According to the Tropica catalogue A. crispus grows to a hight of 25-50cm and a width of 15-30cm, it has an above average growth rate (4 out of 5 wich translates as fast)

    temperature

Valis and Crypts are ok between 20-28 C, Bacopa 15-30C, Salvinia Natans 12-30C, so now problem there.

My new plants!!! - how to plant??

You were lucky to get prescription lenses in the Old Republic. I had to settle for a couple of old whisky tumblers (those damned fish looked big back in them days).

My new plants!!! - how to plant??

Hi Ceg, I thought the idea was to identify what the plant was not what it isn't, we could be here for ever going about it in that fasion, hehe! I suggested Limnophila Aquatica not L. Aromatica Pic of my suggestion: I agree it's definately not L. Aromatica and it's not lots of others! L...

My new plants!!! - how to plant??

The large gravel of yours is not ideal for planting. The anubias sould be attached to wood or rock/slate and the roots not burried. Plant No 3, the nearest guess I can come up with is "Limnophila aquatica". I don't think it's Cabamba, but pic is not the best (no offence intended) I'm sure...

Middle background looks like echinodorous bleheri and front left looks like a rock. I maybe wrong on the first one

Help in choosing plants - specifically for a tall aquarium

You already have substrate. I think what you mean is a nutrient rich substrate (or adding to the existing? ), you don't mention anything about fish in the tank! If you don't have any then changing the substrate shouldn't be a problem. The plants will survive (and probably thrive) a change of...
