    The Kraken Archipelago of Vietnamesia

Hi Faizal, sorry, hadn’t realised I had given so little detail, here it is: Aquarium Details Location: Vietnam Size: L140 x W80 x H60cm 15mm glass Lighting is just from natural light, I have planted that small jungle behind it to stop too much light getting through. It also makes a great...

    The Kraken Archipelago of Vietnamesia

Hi Guys Thanks for the comments. I am not actually sure of the plant or animal species because here in vietnam everything is obviously labeled in vietnamese. Some of the plants and fish I have caught in the wild including the needle fish I have shown below. Many of the emersed plants are...

The Banyan Forests of Stickleback Island

Cheers. The trailing plant was Creeping fig - Ficus pumila. It grew really well with just the roots dangling in the aquarium, in fact I started it as a large cutting with the stump in the water. It is also supposedly very good for improving the water quality although I'm not sure in what way. I...

The Banyan Forests of Stickleback Island

Cheers guys, very kind of you. Had to take the tank down though cos I have moved to Vietnam. Have just got here and in the process of setting myself up with a pad with a balcony so I can set up a tank. They love aquariums out here and they have some great planted tank shops. I have shipped all...

The Banyan Forests of Stickleback Island

The bird is a Indian Mynah that I rescued and hand reared in when I was living in Malaysia. I brought her back legally, in the middle of the bird flu crises! The tank is a couple of year old now and yeah the wood is really settling in. I will try and get some macro shots of it cos the moss is...

The Banyan Forests of Stickleback Island

Re: Stickleback Island There isn't really a back. It is viewed from 3 sides and the other is where the light comes in. It makes it quite hard to figure out the right way to plant it. Here it is looking murky after a clean. R

    Temple- 3l pico

Yeah, I lived in Malaysia for a couple of years. I used to catch all the fish I kept from the local rivers. I caught Needle fish on Tioman. They were amazing to look at and I have never seen them for sale anywhere. I saw my first planted tank at in KL. There is an amazing aquatics shop there.

I really like the idea. That's the sort of thing that needs algae on it. Hope you stick with it, cos it will look really good after a year or two. How are you liking Singapore? Have you been to the Botanical Gardens yet? One of the best in the world. R

The Banyan Forests of Stickleback Island

Re: Stickleback Island Yeah I made the frame from some old door panels I had lying around. When your inlets are made of exhaust pipes you can't get fussy about these things. Maybe it should be called Scrapheap Island. I am a bit  about the look of the tank. I went low tech, natural...

The Banyan Forests of Stickleback Island

Having had my tank for a year and a half, I thought I should start a journal. I have been reluctant to put pictures up, I continually though it would be just how I want it in a months time. It still isn't, but it definitely will be in a month or so ;) Thanks to everyone on here for all the...

    Deserted island journal

Re: Desert island journal Hi This is a bit like the project that I am working on and it has been really fun. I am growing Ficus Benghalensis AKA Banyan from seed, on a piece of wood sticking out of the tank. The reason I chose Banyan is because the root structure is so interesting. The roots...
