If you put the non return valve between the bubble counter and the diffuser water from the bubble counter will get back to the reg. Blow through the valve check you can only blow one way, make sure that's working. then check there is no water inside your regulator, solenoid, and pipes before you...
it seems strange that there is no O-ring. are your friends sure they don't have leaks :D you could try an instant gasket product the type designed for car parts.
to control the out flow of water. in theory your could use an fx5, and just close the valve on the out flow. if you buy a cheap filter that doesn't have this function you can just fit a tap inline like your atomizer
http://www.screwfix.com/p/isolating-val ... 22mm/71412
go with plan a if you have the cash mate.you can get a filter rated a lot high if you want. most filters have a means to reduce the flow, if not you can fit your own method just an in line tap on the out flow
.
i think the hose we use has a 4mm ID 6 mm OD. try e-bay.
no Paul the plastic they are made from is acid proof or at least resistant enough to not matter. what i have noticed is the decay of some of the suckers on cheap products. Carbonic Acid is the one we are most interested in...
it might rise i don't think mine does might depend on the quality of the regulator. if it does or does not i wouldn't worry. co2 is inert it's the acid co2 and h2o make that attacks the plastic.
if your working pressure drops too low your up atomizer wont work, i think it needs at lest 1.5 bar to work. you should change to co2 hosing as soon as you can. Its not an immediate problem but the co2 and water mix creating an acid, which eats away at your hose causing leaks. I think and i...
The gauge with the lower reading is your working pressure. Its showing you the pressure in your hoses and what ever diffuser you are using. 2 bar will run any atomizer and is a good setting. strange its dropped, but as long as it has a reading and does not drop further i would not worry.
hello mate welcome along everyone here is nice. those seem ok for small nano tanks as long as you keep them topped up. the co2 is meant to slowly devolve in to the tank. then you top it up throughout the day. if you tell us a bit more about your tank im sure the guys on here will tell you...
haven't got any kids but im pretty sure even the in laws little monster would struggle to damage my pipe ill try and get some picks up for you tomorrow.its siliconed to the coving 7' odd from the ground. if i was bothered id put it behind the coving. then it would be pretty and kid proof.
ive done the same as ibanezfrelon put a 99kg bottle under the stairs with cheep clear hose running from it to my cabinet then to a check valve and then i use co2 hose where it matters.
so here comes the piece of string per litre of water a week i use 2.7g of co2 fox fish uses 1g of co2 so im nearly 3 times higher with less light. these are very rough figures someone might need to check them. but if im even %50 right getting a ball park number will take a lot more info(and...
i think this is a piece of string situation 35kg has lasted me nearly 4 months on a 760l tank at 1.7 WPG wth t5 lighting and 18 dGH and 10 dKH water and medium plant stocking maybe if we all gather enough information some sort of maths/ computer genius can write a program that would be able...
Re: Is ''CO2 proof tubing'' any different from the regular t
doesn't normal tubing only fail if co2 and water are present together making acid. co2 its self is inert.
mdhardy01 tried your suggestion did seem to make the bubbles smaller and less of them, still no mist guess i need an up atomizer. unfortunately ive now got 4 boyus so might have to wait plus im getting all sorts of algae. might have to make do for5 now im getting maximum gas in any way that's...
i probably should have tried the up but ive already ordered the boyus and didn't see the ones for a fiver till i paid £9 each  ill see how all 4 work together then if im still struggling ill think of a new plan.
ive tried it with out the reactor still blows bubbles but must be more efficient as ive had to turn down the gas rate again. i don't really see a mist coming from the boyus just large bubbles. im hoping with 4 ill get a mist effect. might help me sort out my flow pattens.
so a quick up date tried running 2 boyus in line with the sera reactor which improved diffusion then had to turn the gas down poor fish. but its still not dissolving all the gas still getting large noisy bubbles from the spray bar. so ive ordered 2 more boyus im going to try and run them in line...
thanks for the link hogan. i think the atomizer on the fx5 might throttle it bit1" down to 1/2". and the subresible ive got has a higer out put than the fx5 anyway so that can only be a plus. might get some of the hose for the new plan the stuff ive got is supper thick walled.
ive ordered 2 of...
thanks guys interesting what you said simon as an in line atomizer and multiple reactors was my next move, so wont be trying that now. the idea of to multiple atomizers is some thing i thought about. i considered running them in-line maybe 2 or 3 followed by a single reactor. to help i figure...
so hogan you think i could run an up atomizer under my co2 pump then through the reactor. it does say the thing is only good for tanks up to 150l though. if you can still force gas past it is the same possible with the boyu im not sure how these work. the pump im using is like this...
that might work its a lot of gas to force through an atomizer. can it be done? at the moment its injected right after the pump and travels 300mm before entering the reactor. so the bobbles are smallish.
hi guys im having a few problems dissolving co2 in my 750l. by problems i mean the methods i use never seem to fully dissolve the gas, and i end up with bubbles coming out from my spray bar.ive just fitted a sera Flore Co2 Active Reactor 1000. before that i tried a Fluidized Bed with out the...
if your selling sooner rather than latter ill buy it. i just wont remove the hose so as not to brake the nipple. the flow issue is not a problem the ive a 2000lph pump just for running it.the reactor im using now is similar to the aqua medic in principle but not up top the job. after about 5...
sorry guys i know this is an old thread but im thinking of getting the 1000 model. and was hoping a few more people have tried it. ive had enough of trying to get co2 dissolved in my tank . i can only see it getting worse as my plants grow. there seem to be mixed reviews of this product. the...
just another quick question guys. if a drop checkers a bit pale using an all in one shop brought solution, is it possible to jut add extra Bromothymol blue to make it easier to see. or will that give incorrect readings.
ive got one rainbow fish i rescued from a mate. he doesn't seem to be fond of co2, starts freaking out before the other fish how any sign. shame your fish are eating your plants. i wish i didn't have to keep fish in my plant tank, but the wife says i have no choice.but i have told her we cant...
ive broken down my nano and ive put co2 on the new tank. some thing is eating my moss. the fish the shop told me was a siamensis algae eaters getting re homed first then his tie cousin then the golden sucking mouth fish till my moss starts to grow. the wife tells me i should leave them alone...
ive just set up a 120l tank to re home the SAEs from my high tec, so i can grow some moss. the tank has 2 x t8 tubes over it, both 2' like the tank. my nanos giving me the hump so if its worth braking it down and putting co2 in the 120 . to have a low light high tec set up.will the co2 make a...
wow didnt know that about fish thanks clive. so on your advise ive left the water surface as un broken as possible and ill leave the lights off and blinds open. the only plant i think will suffer is my Staurogyne repens that's just started coming back, but never mind. small possibility ill be...
just done another post entitled "co2's run out" my plan is to turn off half the light and point the spray bar up so at least the gas exchange is constant im hoping at least this will be stable co2 levels really dont want BBA shame when every thing was going so well
my co2 has just run out cant get any till jan the 4th 12 days don't rally want to leave the lights of the whole time will 2 t5's running the length of the tank instead of all 4 be low enough light not to give me algae problem's. tanks 7'x2'x2' haven't got any plants that really need high light.
Re: Can co2 bottle be kept horizontally or at 45 degree angl
FE's are a liquid release the guy i get mine from said i should use it upside-down.don't think it really matters to much. but %45 sounds like a bad idea
i use a Dennrle reg but alot of people use the jbls. if when your solenoid cones on, your presser goes up and gas comes out sounds, like every thing is working fine.
i dint mind the bottle its under the stairs so dont even notice it i use clear hose from it to the tank i think its bigger than a pub one weighs 99kg full when im on my pc ill find you the pic thats on here
its a high light tank with a lot of fast growing plants my old sump wasn't as efficient as the new one. so like i say 2 kg was lasting less than a week. this bottle has been on since i changed sump on the 17th of this month 35kg will have lasted 4 months. cost so far about £16 a month and...
The cheapst i could get was £10 for 2kg fe now i pay £1kg + £80 per year and i dont need to change the bottle every week so for me with high useage BOC work out cheaper. for my nano i plan on useing fe just depends on your needs. but just saying they are a rip off isnt fair
it sound like the regulator isn't lowering the presser enough. it shouldn't be blowing of hoses even if the stuff is backwood. there was a post a couple of weeks ago, talking about changing the out put pressure.
stilll talking about the 26l. im dosing the same levels as ei, just instead of every other day ive split it and dose daily. cost cuttings not really some thing ive bothered thinking about. its such a small tank using the dry ferts i all ready have i dont even notice. i really just wanted to see...
maybe ill just leave it be, but id still like to experiment my 750 is doing ok after all the teething problems. so i think i understand what is needed now. but just for learnings sake if co2 ferts and flow are right shouldn't i be able to add more light. i understand this could make the tank...
my tank only really has low lighting at the moment 11w bulb about 200mm above water and surrounded by black on 3 sides. i am dossing the easycarb straight on to the BBA seems to be working. maybe i wont increase light but i will be going pressurised. just need to get a few bits for my main tank...
thanks guys just wanted to speed things along a bit, and wondered if easy carb was up to it. im going to set up one of my FEs just need to get a reg, then ill stop using easycarb and put some shrimp in. For now Ill carry on doing what im doing there is a bit off BAA on the wood so i need to...
i was just wondering because i have a 26l nano i planted 2 weeks ago, but no money to buy the reg and solenoid yet (its all going on my main tank). so im using some left over easycarb before i get the reg and add shrimp. but nothing seems to be growing. ive got some down lighters kicking around...
i think i all ready know everyone's going to say no, but i was wondering and thought it was worth asking. if i overdose easycarb in a plant only tank @ say X6 +. Then add silly amounts of light and high ferts and good flow would i get fast growth or do i still need pressurised co2. Any thoughts...
BOC are all over the country they do work out cheap if you use a lot of gas ive got one of there large bottles lasted 7 weeks now on my 750l so working out really good for me.
i think thats about the best you can get i rang loads of places turns out most just use boc then add a bit of of a profit. as you can see my bottle is huge and they wouldn't even deliver it, took 2 of use to carry it in to my house. but its so cheap i got fes filled for a tenner but was using...
how big is your tank and where are you going to get your co2 i got a huge one form boc £1 a kg and £90 ppy for the cylinder viewtopic.php?f=37&t=11853&start=10
i dont think you will be able to do this with just hose. the pressure in the bottle is 50 bar, the hose would need to be that strong if its before the reg, or it will just burst. the whole point of the reg is to reduce the pressure to some thing that can be worked with.it might be possible to...
well done mate this Hobby is costly im all for helping on another im also a great fan of sticking stuff together and making what i need for free (or close) one day ill finish my tank and put up some pics one day
i have a solenoid that turns the gas off at night having it on all day seems to work best like i said i had a ph controller stopped using it there loads of hassle as well no need to over complicate things
to change the water i drip in filtered water to the sump and bin off the over flow and every few weeks like today i clean the gravel with a syphon
i cant really cant count the bubbles its just there so i know its ruining up till yesterday was using 2kg and 6kg bottles so they didn't last long...
its a 750l running 1.7wpg the bottle rental is about £100 per year and £35 for a re fill so £1 per kg ish dont think it can be got cheaper saves going to the shop every 3 weeks as well
so i got the 35 kg they wont deliver to a domestic property so me and a mate picked it up not that hard just need to get the co2 hose now. makes my tank look small
it depends on the id of the pump return pipe mines 1.5'' so an in-line would have to be diy. i use 2 Dennerle cyclone reactors in side my sump. the spray bar distributes the gas well. if you are using a sump sealing it is very important long story short i changed mine for a tighter sealing one...
Ok thanks wasnt sure if it was only when the co2 came in to contact with water and became an acid it was a problem got to run a line 10m so was looking for a cheap way out thanks
