That colour looks fine, mine is like that during light hours and yellow in the morning. As long as you have some nice surface movement and feeding the plants well enough for them to pearl and bring oxygen into the water, the fish will be fine.

when upping Co2, just make sure you do it when you have a few hours spare to keep an eye on the tank, so you can either lower it or increase surface agitation. Increase it ever so slowly over a few days until your drop checker reads right.

What bubble counter do you have? I feel it really does make a difference when talking about bps. I have one of these and have about 3/4 bps!! with good surface agitation and my drop checker is almost lime green. Different bubble counters give different sized bubles so differing bps can give...

Good thinking with the Excel. I did the bleaching for a few hours, then left it in a glass of 50/50 water/de-chlorinator. Then put it in clean water and burst the co2 through it for a few seconds to clear any cloudiness. Put it in the tank and all is well.

Nice. Guess as long as i rinse it well afterwards, the bleach wont be a problem. Have to use my chisel diffuser for a bit, while I got the rhinox soaking :roll:

Hi everyone. suddenly starting to get algae and detritus on the ceramic part of my diffuser. It usually comes off with a light brush but this stuff is staying. read before about using a bleach solution but im worried about that. Any ideas?

What about between regulator and solenoid? So it'll go: Regulator__small length of tubing___solenoid(screw type connection)____small length of tubing_____needle valve____tubing to bubble counter etc... Have I got it or just given you a head ache?

What About any back pressure? Just worried about when the solenoid kicks in over night, the pressure of gas stopping would push (pop?) the tubing off the regulator... or am I being a worrying little old so an' so?

I've had a regulator just like this laying around for some time now. Although mine has a female fitting to the gas bottle. What I'm wondering, is there a way to fit a solenoid and needle valve onto the fitting at the bottom as there isn't any threading to it. You basically just slide a tube on...

Wolfenrook is right, I'm sure if you increase the pressure on your regulator just quick then the bubbles will start flowing nice. Then all you got to do is lower it back down until you get the desired mist of bubbles.

fluval 205 though might be upgrading to 305. should be an easy transition using the existing media.

filter made a big gush of trapped gas last night. scared me a bit... managed to compose myself and shake it off :) have a drop checker and shows green/slight lime. just didnt know whether it was better for the mist to hit the plants or just so long as its in the water column for enough time.
