So A4L have quoted £1577 with delivery so far that’s with optiwhite and dry weir. Pretty expensive! Waiting on others to quote.

I’ve no experience of a dry weir. Are they simple to use?

I have an open top one now, the EA Aquascaper 900. I have had a few fish jump, but I have had the water close to the rim edge. The tank is going in the living room in the alcove. I wanted the glass pipes to not be on show either really so it all looked neat and tidy to people looking at the tank .

So A4L got back to me they offer an Aquascaper tank for £759 which would need lighting. Pro - cost, same size as I wanted. Cons- leaving water marks, fish able to jump out Or a custom built tank for £1370 with lid, same size which would also need lighting. Can’t see why it’s so much more...

Yeh they sell them near me. How many would you need for a 250 litre tank?

The other option is to get an Aquascaper tank with a light hanging over the back. Any recommendations as Kessil are super expensive?

So I’m contemplating getting a tank with a lid. I’m setting up an African Congo biotope. The plan is to use floating mini water lettuce as most of the fish require it to be dim. If I bought a tank with lid the light is much closer to the water, therefore would the floating plants just burn and...

So my question is if you need some floating plants to dim the light for the fish your putting in there, and you have a tank with a lid, would the light being so close to the water just frazzle the floating plants?

Anyone have any experience of the Oase 200 Highline and the D-D Aqua pro freshwater 900 tanks? I can’t decide between the two, both fit in my living room space, the latter is 227 litres and the first 202 litres.

In a couple of months I’m building a new African themed tank. It will be in an Oase Highline 200. Idea is heavily planted, river rocks and bog wood. Congo tetras, African catfish, etc but not keen on a Kribensis. Wondering what dwarf cichlid to keep. Any ideas?

It’s an app used to buy and sell fish or shrimp or anything aquatic. It was started up after fb put a stop to selling on its platform. It has regional groups for you to join, chat to people, post what you have for sale etc. I’ve bought amano shrimp, crystal shrimp on there and sold some nerites.

Like I said he said they do better in larger groups. He said they spawn close to each other in large groups in the wild. Only time will tell, they are the only fish in there for a couple of weeks so I’ll keep my eye on them. Can always sell off some pairs on Band if required.

Can I just clarify, if not using CO2 do you still dose the same amounts but alternate macro and micro each day? I’m using EI on my big tank and Tropica Specialised Nutrition on my 60P Low tech tank at the moment. Would be easier to just use the same method.

I’ll try changing the pipes tomorrow. I’ve opened the bottom so it’s fully open, but the filter is still intermittently making noises as if it’s struggling to work properly.

Yeh they have nearly all done this now. Glad to hear it’s not something I’ve not done. They aren’t in direct light either. Most other plants growing in well especially the Rotala Green.
