Fish tank water on the garden

Hi all quick question, when I do a water change I tend to siphon it to a water butt and then use that to water the garden. Thinking the fert (TNC complete) used in the tank would also be good in the garden. But last year I found the plants turned yellow-ey after I had used it on them. it could...

Has anyone tried the new Superfish scaper LED lights?

Thanks yes I thought I noticed him using one too to good results. They seem hard to find. I've only seen the 60cm online and none of the bigger ones.

Has anyone tried the new Superfish scaper LED lights?

Hi all, I noticed in the 2023 superfish catalog they have a range of scaper LED lights in various sizes. Has anyone tried them out? Info online seems hard to find. I can only find the smaller one on sale anywhere. But could possibly be a good entry level / budget light. It is Ip rated too so...

DIY Python water changer for £9?

I remember many years ago and I am not sure if they still claim this, but pyhton used to say you didn't need to use water conditioner with their products. I always found that a bit hard to believe. With these systems are people dropping the conditioner straight into the tank as its filling?

    Fluval Roma owners..

Thank you that is reassuring. I was just thinking its a lot of weight on the floating part but it sounds like it will be fine 👍 Yes it has the manufacturers plastic trim on the bottom. The top trim is also present though I have found it to be loose and can be pulled off. Its seems it was held...

    Fluval Roma owners..

Hi all, I have just acquired a Fluval Roma which I plant to plant up and use plenty of rocks. I have one concern which is that the Roma has a floating base. So the bottom glass of the aquarium does not sit flush on the stand. Rather it sits on the edges and there is a gap between the bottom...

    Complete vs capped substrates

Hi all, I am just choosing a substrate for a 200L. I was going to go with a complete substrate such as Tropica Soil as it makes moving plants around easier. I have found with base layer / capped substrates when I pull a plant out it pulls the bottom layer up which leaks into the water and takes...

    Lighting for Fluval Roma

Hi all, just bought a Fluval Roma 200 second hand. It has an LED light but I am guessing this will be poor. I want to keep it closed topped. Am I stuck with using Fluvals lighting units? What have you all done with your Fluval tanks?
  9. ChrisP

    Where do you keep yours?

I was going to ask the same question. Living room is a bit tight and I don't want the light reflecting on the TV. Kictchen.. not much space. Then upstairs it will get forgotten about. Might have to make some compromises / move furniture about.

Hi all, I'm getting a bit tired of topping the tank up with water due to evaporation so I'd like to put a top on it. Adjusted a bolt I shouldn't have on the regulator

Ok so yesterday I noticed my Co2 was not running, I thought there was plenty of Co2 left in the bottle so there must be a problem. What do you think of this chip?

Thanks for the replies all. I think I'll fill her up and see what happens :)
  18. ChrisP

What do you think of this chip?

Its a bit more than a surface chip. You can touch the other pane of glass that it is butted up to. It is small tank though. I think maybe only 20 or 30L
  19. ChrisP

What do you think of this chip?

Hi all, I've had this little cube tank for a number of years now and unfortunately it got chipped during a house move. It doesn't leak but I've left it empty since I noticed it. I'm tempted to set this tank up again as a little low light / low tech experiment. Here's a few pictures, what do...

Cutting a plug off a heater

Thanks Danny that does look pretty impressive! I'm going to decide between doing something like that or a basic frame design. Here's a question for you people. Hi guys has anyone come across any decent plans for a stand? I have of course Googled but most of the plans I find are over complicated. I just want to make something fairly basic to hold a 40cm cube. Doesn't need to be anything special, just strong solid wood possibly with a shelf.

Thanks I'll most likely up the bubble rate. Only reason I was cautious is I used to have a 180l with 2bps. So I thought 1bps would be crazy on a 50. This was different reg, counter etc though.

    Chohiros Aquasky low tech

    Established tank Brown Algae

How are the plants doing? Presumably they struggled / didn't grow as fast without Co2, which has let the algae creep in.
  69. ChrisP

What would you change about this setup?

That's a lot of filtration :D I too was doing weekly water changes and went down to fortnightly. I have seen no issues, no algae buildup, water chemistry is fine so the fish are happy. So long as you're filtered well and not overstocked its fine.
