    canon 600d or nikon 5100

I have a 550D, which is very similar to the 600D, and I like it a lot. Very easy to use :) Again, I have very limited use of Nikons so can't really be helpful there!

    canon 600d or nikon 5100

Tada: Nikon D5100 vs Canon EOS 600D (Rebel T3i) - Which one is better?
  3. Steve Smith

    canon 600d or nikon 5100

I'm a canon fan personally, but I have very little experience of using Nikon. Whenever I have I've been confused as hell  Google for canon 600D vs nikon 5100. There's bound to be a comparison review somewhere out there :)

Visit/Photos to "Aquario Vasco da Gama" (Lisbon/Portugal)

Great photos Pedro. Looks like an interesting place. Is it a big place? Quite interesting that it's owned by the Portuguese navy too.

    Film photography

Anyone interested in the old school? I've just acquired two film cameras which I'm yet to experiment with. The first is an Olympus Trip 35 which my mother found when digging in a cupboard recently. Reading up on it, it could be a decent all rounder point and shoot. I probably won't play...

New toy - EOS550D, now with photos.

Quite chuffed :) I took some photos of a friends fish pedicure business (of which I've been advising and helping out with maintenance and stuff), as a favour, so she could use them on their website. She had some printed out because her daughter was in them, and wanted to send them abroad to...

My first DSLR Camera - Canon

Totally agree, it's very costly :S I didn't realise you were local :) Will definitely have to sort out something! Drop me a PM if you want to sort out an excursion... We'll have to see if anyone else local wants to join in :) Steve.

My first DSLR Camera - Canon

I bought a 550D recently and I love it! I need to save up some more for some decent glass, but out of the box it's a great camera :) I've moved on from a 300D. I experienced what James has said about decent glass being more important than an expensive body. I had the opportunity to use John...

New toy - EOS550D, now with photos.

Interesting thoughts about slightly over exposing. I'll give that a try in future. I'd be interested to know what non-linear video software people are using. Currently I don't have anything to edit video (other than Windows Live movie maker  )

Re: New toy - EOS550D. HD Vid tips? I've read about using a larger Fstop so that focus is less of an issue too. Any thoughts on this? I've just come back from a place called Puzzlewood, in Gloucestershire. Amazing place, and somewhere I think anyone on this forum should visit if they have...

Re: New toy - EOS550D. HD Vid tips? I'm replacing a 300D which has lasted me a good 6 or 7 years! I'm away this weekend with family, and the place we're going too is supposed to be very picturesque, and lots of mossy woodland :)

Coventry Fly In - Vulcan XH588

The Vulcan holds some memories for me. My dad was one of the founders of the Midland Air Museum (or at least the group which then became the museum) and was a trustee for many years. I spent many of my summers as a child playing in all sorts of old aircraft, including a Vulcan which they have...

Coventry Fly In - Vulcan XH588

Had an opportunity to see the restored Vulcan bomber fly into my local airport as part of a "Fly in". A fly in is sort of like an airshow, but with less air display. Private aircraft are invited to attend and essentially fly in for the public to come and oggle at. They also usually have some...

Are you really a macro lens ?

Canon prime is fixed focal length (hope I'm not mixing my terminology up there) so no good as a macro as far as I'm aware. Wouldn't mind a nifty 50 :)

Hey guys. I'm toying with the idea of a new camera, and I've seen a 50D body which I might go for. I wondered what lens I should consider getting with it. I'll have my old 18-55 which came with my old EOS 300D to start me off, but it's a bit old and grimey. Thoughts?

Restoring an old forge - Photos.

I always shoot in RAW :) I usually use full manual, just to force myself to play with settings, but most of these were shot on semi-auto RAW to be honest, and then I've played about with levels and such in RAWShooter Essentials 2005 :)

Restoring an old forge - Photos.

  99. Steve Smith

    what photo packages?

For processing RAW files I use RAWShooter Essentials 2005 which I think is great for a free software package. Adobe bought this and turned it into their Lightroom product :) Other than this, I use photoshop CS2 or sometimes GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program). GIMP is free and pretty...
