If you were using the filter to a descent capacity then doing that at night would reduce the ammount of bacteria in the filter, which could cause ammonia spikes-one thing you definatley dont want in a standard fish tank, let alone a fully planted one where it could cause algae issues.

I use that for water changes on my 125litre, spreads the flow out, stops me dislodging the substrate so much in one place.

dont you have to slightly warm pieces of glass before making adjustments, such as this? and i remember hearing something about making sure you use water when you cut it.. not much help, i know :?

it would cut it down about 2-3mm i would have thought, taking a once 12mm hose to 9-10mm.

when i put my lily on instead of the tetratec outlet, it increased flow, but, the glass intakes really do slow the flow down, i think this is due to the inside diameter of the lily pipes being smaller than the inside diameter of the tubing to your filter, so less water can get through.

If electomagnetic movements travel through the glass, how come the water doesnt conduct the electricity? nice bit of kit :thumbup:

Sponges(if you clean them often) are acting as mechanical filtration, so they will hold little of the bacteria needed, this will be stored on your bio balls, so i would keep the sponges, and replace the bio balls with seachem matrix half at a time, but give it a good 2 months to recover.

I have 2 ttex filters, the 600 and the 1200. I used the original filter media that came with it, although, i kinda wish i hadnt, but as i have cycled now, theres not too much point in changing, swapping the bio rings for some sera siporax would be my choice...

i spose, its all down to personal opinion becuase compared to others, i find that koralia's arent the worst looking powerheads on the market, I hear eheims are efficiant, and live up to their flow rate much better than any other filters, maybe look at a 700lph+ one of them of money permits...

think of the green sponge as another blue one, as it doesnt work imo.. so 3 blue sponges, need to be replaced when they have totally lost their shape, probably longer than a year. The carbon sponge is optional, it takes some chemicals out of the water, but i only use it when i have some, and...

once you have some sponge, you wont need to buy any more for a long time, its the floss that you will have to get, i just buy a big box of filter floss(not jewel brand) from the range.

I use it ocasionally, when i have some.

My lfs has them in now, and yeah, they are nice to look at, but for that ammount, you could have a really good eheim with thermo built in, some of the things- such as the conductivity, as George mentioned, seem meaningless.

tetratec ex400 from zoolplus? my mistake, you cant get the ex400's anymore..

best to look at all possibilities, even though it would be pretty shocking for something to have worn down that quickly, its something i would check. good luck.

Bad bad morning so far, i tried to take my cal aqua nano lily pipe off and it broke on the top curve bit :( I havnt got any other form of intake so i have tried to make one out of the tetratec spraybar, it seems to be holding up fairly well but flow is extreemly restricted, will this be ok for...

I have just purchased a hydor seltz L30, they are suitable for the job, quiet, reasonably prices and can be turned down from what i hear...

Ive tried to find one for myself before now, that, like the eheim allows for 2 tubes to be attatched, all i seem to find is the one for the outflow, and not an intake. I think im going with the koralia nano powerhead for my 35litre. Adam

yes, the glassware will be 13mm for a 12mm hose, this ensures that once pushed on(may need a bit of hot water to expand the filter hose) it is a tight fit and will not fall off. thanks Adam

i brought a ttex600 for a 35litre, and its currently cyling for 6 weeks in a 60litre, i can tell that the flow rate is no where near than that suggested, but heyho, even if its half im still doing fine for a 35litre tank :)

eheim aquaball's fluval u series fluval plus series maybe a hang on the back filter? aquaclear's are good HOBS

i have the same experience with a recnetly purchased and set up ttex600, its not silent, which is its only downfall, slight humming. but yeah, its build well, and the prime was a breeze for me. i brought mine mainly becuase of the price, but was swayed when i heard about tetras great customer...

what do people think of the tetratec ex 600, i am after it mainly for the 12mm tube dimensions so to fit a heater, but mainly it will have to be quiet, as it is going just 2 foot from my head once in bed thanks guys
