I searching the net on the use of dolomite addition on substrate. I kinda like the idea of dolomite because most trace mix doesn't have calcium in it.
anyway, I was reading the wikipedia entry for dolomite and a local product description and it seems adding dolomite would increase pH, GH and...
All I have is a weighing scale (use for measuring a person's weight) so I decided to check out what tutorial is available out there using a teaspoon/tablespoon.
I found this site.
It says:
•Dissolve 1 teaspoon (6 grams) of sodium bi-carb into 1 litre of distilled water.
•Take 10mL of this...
I have the same regulator and I just connected it today.
The gauge on mine read 1000 and there is no gas escaping via the safety release valve (just tested using soapy water).
thanks everyone :)
------------
fyi: I had to use a nipple fitting (http://www.philmac.com.au/Product/Produ ... aspx?c=325) so I can connect the regulator to the FE. I had to use teflon tape on the fitting (fe-side) to seal it. No tape was required on the regulator-side. :)
I have been reading the tutorial on using fire extinguishers and I got lost when reading the section on "firing the fe". How do I do this step? searching the forums/net was fruitless.
I am assuming that "firing the fe" could be as simple as pressing/squeezing the levers. but since the term...
from the tank?
I was initially thinking of placing the aquarium in the middle-right edge of the room. but for me to nail braces to support the hanging light is close to impossible so I decided to place it beside the PC as I can easily install braces this way. I am thinking of hiding of the tank...
I've been looking at various diffuser in ebay. Some have 2in diameter (which I assume is the ceramic disc) and is rated at 40 US gallons. while some with 1in diameter is go up to 75US gallons. So what determines the capacity of a diffuser?
I've searched the net and forums but came away empty...
thanks for the help.
I would like to ask what does the metal joint sticks do?
Also, I suppose I need 2 bubble counter and 2 diffusers. right?
thanks again
A few weeks ago, I recall seeing a discussion where it was recommended to turn-on the CO2 before the lights turn on. And then turn-off the CO2 before the lights turn-off. But I cannot find the thread again (I believe it was a different forum). I searched this forum as well but cannot find a...
canister vs a separate pump?
I am looking at buying a 1000LPH pump for CO2 duties. The way I see, if I connect the CO2 equipment to a canister, it'll slow down the flow. maybe I was shouldn't be concern at all at the reduced flow rate?
If connecting to a canister, should the reactor/inline...
I'm considering these 2 at the moment:

thanks again
Do I need to secure the pipe (co2 tubing where tubing needs to be heated before use) into a glass drop counter/diffuser using maybe zip-ties? or this is unnecessary?
please correct me if I'm wrong :)
that last ebay link diffuser has 2 inlet. If using as an "output" diffuser, 1 inlet for the co2 pipe and the other inlet for the canister outlet.
and would work in reverse if connected to the inlet of the canister.
is this correct? Is it better than a reactor?
what what I understand (and please correct me).
I either need a spiro diffuser OR a reactor?
Which is better? I just searched and it seems reactor is better?
how do I connect a reactor to the filter? I searched the net again but most results isn't very clear on connecting the reactor.
thank you
I decided to get this setup for my 120cm(l) x 46cm(w) x 70cm(h) tank. It can theoritically hold around 385liters.
Please comment on my choices. thank you
regulator: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT
bubble counter: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT...
like this: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-CO2-DUAL-GUA ... 439b99fda2
there are others but the common theme is that the regulator are advertised for home beer brewing.
thank you :)
I just found a great deal on flourish excel and I think this would serve my tank quite nicely as I do not have a CO2 pressurized tank. I plan to buy 7 500ml which may last me more than a year.
thanks for the reply :)
