Well, things were going smoothly... now the algea is taking over again
All over the glass and rocks/wood and on the slow-growers
The stems at the back are doing well.. apart from the ones on the left. Need to get my trim the ones on the right.
Well, due to popular demand! (lol) Here is an update :)
Drained all the water and took all the sand out, wich was a very very annoying job! (specialy when your hungover on a sunday)
Put in the eco-complete and hardscape. Wish i got more eco.
Kind of rushed this so i could get it over and...
Waiting for my Eco-Complete to come in the post still.
But i got some new stems.I will change it slightly, but keep the same idea when i get the new substrate.
The right hand side im deffinatly gonna change. Also there is stems behind the wood wich need to grow out.
My combi is brand new. Had the old style copper one took out and replaced. My tank is upstairs, so i will have to bring the kettle up when i do a w/c
I recently heard that using hot tap water when doin water changes (not hot on its own, ofc) is deadly to shrimp?
Because of the heavy metals and the type of pipes used for hot water?
Anybody had experience with this?
Yes it is a hagen, they dont come with bulbs so i got mine from lampspecs.co.uk
The bulbs are Osram Lumilux 880 Skywhite + Osram Lumilux 840
My reg is a Wave CO2 Regulator off ebay.
Thanks for the comments.
Restarting my tank next week as it is currently neglected and home to alot of dieing plants and algae.
I have the week off work so its the perfect time to do it!
It would be great to get as much help and advice as i possibly could along the way! so i dont make the same mistakes as i did last...
Thanks for the comments :)
Just had another play around and suprisingly the snail was back in the same spot! :P
This shot is ALOT clearer then my last ones! imo anyway...
i used
- ISO 100
- Aperture F3.5
- Shutter speed 4? i think that is what the settin is
Hi. Complete amature here! just recently got a new Fuji S5700 and have been doin some test shots.
I have been using Auto setting for all of these. Looking for tips on how to get better pictures if possible.. shutter speed, ISO settings etc.
First few pics are of a snail i spotted in my 10g...
Ok, my tank is slowly turning into an algae farm. So im changing from a spray bar to a lily pipe.
Im looking at this http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.p ... ts_id=2180
My filter is a Fluval 305 and my tank is 90ltr.
The ribbed hosing is 17mm.
Im just making sure this lily pipe is ok...
Hi. Has anybody tried breaking up the mini landscape rocks from AE? I got a large one wich is very square and i wanna try and smash it up to get a better shape.
Just wanted to know if anybody has done it and if it went ok.
The inline diffusers are a stupid price imo. For a little bit of glass :/
I did have it under the spray bar, but it didnt seem to be getting pushed/blown around very much at all... most of it was goin streight to the top of the tank.
Ok, so i have my diffuser under my intake, filter runs smoothly, but every now and again it has a big ol' splutter and what looks like a load of CO2 comes gushing out of the spray bar.
Could this end up as 'CO2 Fluctuation' and an Algae farm because of this?
Does anybody else using this method...
Re: Iwagumi Shrimp Style - UPDATE: 13.09.08
Very nice mate, lookin good. I think it looked better without the small lime grassy plants at the front tho.
Its a 90ltr 30 x 15 x 12
Nah, the substrate has been in for about 6 month.

Ive got a brand new FLUVAL 305 here to hook up after i have a shower, hope this might help a bit.
Well, every time i look at my tank i see a new bit of it floating!
Took out my gourami aswell as it was pulling at it. Alot of crap seems to be clinging onto it aswell, wich cant be good!
Whats the best way 2 plant this HC ? im splitting it down as i speak.
Is it best to put it in little clumps about the size of a 50p ? or smaller? or bigger? wide apart stem by stem?
Thanks.
Its simply because i have not actually ever looked at it and took it in, not that i dont think i couldnt understand it.
Thanks for the info, ill order the dry ferts soon as i can :) top man.
Untill then, ill dose 8ml of TPN+ and see how it goes.
I plan on getting a new filter as soon as i can afford it, currently im running x2 internals wich i have no idea flow rate they are. I can see CO2 doing a full rotation of the tank.
Im dosing 4ml of TPN+ daily and the tank is 90ltr
Ill crank it up to 5ml :? I think EI might be a better...
Recently upgraded from low light and no ferts or CO2 to > ferts, pressurized CO2, 2WPG T5 lighting.
And it isnt going as well as i thought :( I dont know what im doing wrong! CO2 is in the green in drop checker and im dosing TPN+ daily
