    t8-t6's

Does changing the bulbs over from a t8 unit to t6's have any actual effect to plants, apaprently, t6's are 40% brighter, but i have just read that as the surface area of the t6 is smaller than t8, the light is simply more concentrated when looking at it, however, because no more watts are being...

    When to prune lilaeopsis brasiliensis?

I have it, its growing incredibly slowly, but still healthy, i just prune it when i see fit really, take it right back down to the substrate as cut leaves wont continue to grow. The tank i have it in is: 35l, 3x8w t5, 2ml tpn+, 2ml easycarbo(both daily). and waterchanges weekly. I have...

    Using Decorative Sand only

It is possible to have a planted tank-even high tech, with an inert, no nutrient enriched substrate. Although this places all the emphasis on dosing into the water column, I believe it to give scope for mistakes and if nutrient levels drop and if plants suddenly need more, they can suck them up...

    Short photo period midday burst?

Discussion: What's your favourite part of the hobby and why?

    Neolamprologus multifasciatus

but, just to add to what Darrel said, dont keep multies and similis' together, i accidently purchased 2 similis for my multi tank(thinking they were multies, believe me, its an easy mistake) the similis ruled, so i had to get rid of them.
  37. AdAndrews

    Neolamprologus multifasciatus

no probs mate, they are nearly impossible to sex, you will be a very lucky person to come back with that ratio.. id go with a group of 6 and then eventually you will have a pair formed. the rest can be removed if needed, although multies are colonial so it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

Running bio filter at different speed at night?

If you were using the filter to a descent capacity then doing that at night would reduce the ammount of bacteria in the filter, which could cause ammonia spikes-one thing you definatley dont want in a standard fish tank, let alone a fully planted one where it could cause algae issues.
