Well if you use plastic filters they like to break. I have a 1200es on 120p ADA. lots of flow in the aquarium
Do these shiny filters help planted tanks, or diminish the money in your pocket 🫡
Thanks for the replies! So with the spin pipe you could reduce the flow levels to an acceptable level? The 60h tank is 40 liters bigger than the 60x30x45 .. from your experience would that be big enough to have an acceptable flow without the spin pipes? Thanks!ES 600 was a bit too much flow for me on an ADA 60H - though mine is 60x30x45
Depends on what you’re going for; I also used the spin return and yeah, cool.
Yes! But the glass stands seem only available for the “standard” P aquariums. Most of the fancy ada equipment don’t fit my H version. So I’m scraping the internet for a suitable table or stand that can hold the weight… the only thing I can find which looks techy are steel butcher / kitchen stands. Big difference in price without the Ada name on it. But there are stickersI would love to have one on a full ada set up with a glass stand they are so amazing looking but as it stands now I have a waterbox aquarium, knock off pipes, a chihiros light and eheim classic filter...
One can dream though..

I can sense a good deal of snobbery and consumerism in that. "Hey, ADA, get me a stylish piece of furniture - interior decoration. ... Eh, biology? What biology?"Never had one, but from what I can tell, you're paying for the build quality, additional extras (ADA lily pipe set, ADA Clear hosing, ADA Bio Rio media, ADA Spring washer etc) and the fact that especially outside of Japan - ADA is a premium brand. Some will see the value - some won't.

I am not comfortable with this current in our hobby, and this is not what I'm seeking for in a place like UKAPS.
I think so. I've got <"no interest in aesthetics"> (or designer labels), but I can see why people might like an ADA Superjet filter and be <"willing to pay a premium"> for a shiny, stainless steel <"pump in a bucket">.More choice is a good thing, no? Every hobby I'm a part of has a sub-section which is elitist/snobby etc, that's a human flaw as opposed to an inanimate object flaw.
I'm not personally going to buy an <"ADA Superjet filter">, but if somebody gave me one? <"I'd use it">, I like the <"simple design & iwaki pump"> and I can see it is a thing of beauty.I am not comfortable with this current in our hobby, and this is not what I'm seeking for in a place like UKAPS.

I haven't suggested in the least that UKAPS should restrict ADA filters or whatsoever from open discussion. I've only expressed my opinion that ADA promotes our hobby in a direction which does not make me particularly happy, and that there are other fields which I (personally) find more interesting.UKAPS is a very diverse collection of different people, with very wide ranging preferences, opinions and objectives - and personally that's exactly what I'm seeking in a place like UKAPS.
If you like beer, it does not mean that you want a sexy brewery in your living room. I mean, I expect a filter (or any piece of technology) to fulfill its purpose, rather than to display. Nobody's getting aquarium to display a fancy stainless filter but the other way round, I suppose.Additionally who wouldn’t want a sexy filter in their living room!
I would absolutely take a sexy whiskey pot still in my living room and I don’t care what my wife has to say about it!If you like beer, it does not mean that you want a sexy brewery in your living room.
I mean, I expect a filter (or any piece of technology) to fulfill its purpose, rather than to display ..... Actually, it's yet another point that annoys me most. People blindly believe the marketing buzz and purchase or build expensive and monstrous filters even in cases which are far from necessary - which is most planted tanks
I may have a <"business opportunity"> for you.As I've said in other posts <"I'm deeply cynical"> (with traditional apologies to @Miss-Pepper ) about the products and advice offered by the "Aquarium Industry" and I'm pretty sure that their business model aims to keep aquarists constantly staggering from disaster (perceived or real) to disaster, just so that they can <"sell them a product">.

Thanks for the reply! The 600 it will be will keep you updated once the filter is installed. A lot of discussion is going on on whether it’s worth it and what this forum should be about. Well I’m new to the hobby and learned about it by reading about the father of the aquascape hobby Takashi Amano. So in that sense I believe him , and so his products, do make the hobby more popular. The reason I purchase it is because of the quality (read it will last a lifetime) performance, and i have to admit the looks. Can’t argue this looks way better than all the plastic filters out thereI have always had an eye on ADA equipment back from my university days and finally managed to be in a position to afford some of them. It is pretty hard to get ADA equipment here in Canada, but I managed to source mine from trips to the USA. I currently have an ES300 V2, ES600 (on a 90P) and an ES1200 that is waiting in box to be replaced on the 90p. Personally I have only used eheim 2215 filters in the past and I can definitively say that the ES600 pulls much better than the 2215 as it gets clogged. You hardly notice any difference in flow with the ES600 even after 1.5 months post maintenance. Yes! it doesn't mean that you can avoid maintenance... by 1.5months, the glass pipes start to grow BBA and there is green algae in the tubes. I think a ES600 should suffice your purpose on the 60H. I wouldn't bother with the ES900 on that size of a tank unless you plan on upgrading in the future.
